Here's one vote for down. Parker wasn't impressive vs Ruiz and Ortiz seems to have lost what made him exciting, possible to age. Still both deserve title shots. Will Wilder or Joshua give them?
Vote down. Parker has not looked good since elevating his competition but it does give him good experience. Ortiz is old and I think a good heavy would outbox him. The division is in a state of flux as I feel the only elite heavyweight Klitschko is clearly in his twilight and I do not see anyone with the talent on the horizon to fill his shoes yet.
A little down for both. Parker's performance was not good although he does hold the WBO belt now which compensates somewhat. Ortiz isn't destroying Scott and Allen quickly or brutally enough so stock down there as well.
Vote down more for Parker than Ortiz though. If Parker had any chance against Fury, Wladimir or Joshua he had to beat Ruiz badly to show he was a class above. He failed to do that and the fight was almost a draw which shows the level Parker is truly at. I think Pulev beat both Parker and Ortiz.
Ruiz turned out to be no bum, so even though it was close, it's still a good win. I rate Ortiz really high in the division but his performance against Scott wasn't very good, so Ortiz' stock took more of a drop imo.
I'm yet to see Ortiz lose a round. Scott came to survive and barely threw a punch but still should have been counted out in the mid rounds. Allen is a walking chin, Ortiz handed him his first KO loss. Ortiz still has to be considered one of the very best in the division.
There has been plenty of examples in the past when good fighters come unstuck when fighting awkward opponents. A win is a win until it's a loss.
But if you reverse the opponents here, and Match Parker with Scott, and Ruiz with Ortiz, it's quite possible that the performances would have been quite different, so thinking about it in that way, Both fighters stock dropped quite a bit.
Both their stock has taken a dip after recent performances. I didn't expect Parker to struggle as much as he did with Ruiz, I thought eventually he'd break Ruiz down as he tired. But Ruiz was a bit better than expected but Parker didn't do enough to take Ruiz out of his comfort zone to break him down. Parker clearly struggles when forced back and this is something everyone is aware of now and will look to exploit. Ortiz's vulnerability to movement was exposed by Scott. Allen also showed Ortiz is a little one paced, maybe his age is becoming and issue as it took him some time to really get going and he hasn't look half as formidable as he did against Jennings.
Here's the odd thing. You could say Paker has a better resume than either Joshua or Wilder. Maybe you can argue the same for Ortiz.
Stiverne and Whyte are both superior to anyone on Parkers resume. Takam and Ruiz are nothing to write home about.
Whyte's best win is Chisora, and not without taking huge amounts of punches flush to his head. You honestly think Whyte will progress further without this being an issue?
