Parker's resume really is one of the gnarlest in the division right now Takam Ruiz Hughie Fury AJ Whyte Chisora x2 Joyce Wilder Zhang Bakole Every single danger man of his era.
The less proven fighter winning happens enough to not be considered exceptional. Just because it doesn't happen most of the time doesn't mean it isn't normal due to the sheer amount of fights. Happens all the time. Joyce was another, smashed the more proven Parker, got smashed by the less proven Zhang
Depends how much less proven - and the difference here is huge... It was for AJ-Dubois too, so it's not impossible, it's just unlikely. Exactly. Equally, it also doesn't mean backing a much less proven fighter is a good idea... And anyone backing Bakole here is doing exactly that.
Considering he's only 33 now and not even out of his prime year's yet (as Fury/AJ/Usyk/etc are), it certainly makes him the man to beat going forward... Dubois, still not quite prime yet, is the other big obvious face of the future - anyone saying this replacement is better than that isn't thinking straight (but this should still be a decent bout).
My hope is that he was told to be in shape and ready to sub in should someone drop. With such a big card, wouldn't it be smart to have backups ready? Bakole is a super easy one -- fans want to see him, and there's two heavyweight fights scheduled. Parker vs Bakole is actually a very interesting fight. Big test for Bakole.
Will be interesting to see what kind of shape Bakole turns up in, he could be 350 pounds for all we know and just jumping on a plane for the payday.
On 2 days notice, Parker is the favorite. With a full camp i would pick Bakole, hopefully Parker weighs 260 so he gasses and Bakole knocks him out. Joyce all over again
Bakole is much more offensive than Zhang. Zhang waits to throw counters. Bakole just goes straight to offense.
I don't have the impression that Bakole is in Riyadh. He will have to fly 6 hours just before the fight.
Probably was just offered his biggest payday ever. Even if he wasn't ready, I could see risking it. Plus I bet he was paid to be in fighting shape and ready to sub if one of the HWs on the card dropped out.
