All true, though I'm not sure how applicable they'd be in a boxing sense. Joshua is also able to curb his ego and learn from losses, unlike the Dosser for instance, so while he may not show that much humility in defeat he doesn't go into straight denial.

That's still a stylistic nightmare for him IMO. His only hope of winning is if Joyce's chin or confidence has been cracked by Zhang. His willingness to walk through shots to land his own doesn't seem to have changed based on the Ali fight, but he looks a lot slower, and if Parker really improves his footwork and general evasiveness he might, might, be able to outpoint him. But big solid non-stop punching heavy handed tanks with unothodox punching angles and weird slow-fast rhythms are always going to be an uphill struggle for a fighter with Parker's attributes.

Zhang is a bit of a plodder with no gas tank, Wilder doesn't even come close to Joshua's skills.

I respect Parker for how hes rebounded and hes took on two dangerous punchers back to back and won.

But I don't really see those performances equal being successful vs someone like Joshua.

If Parker tried to engage Joshua more he would be punished more than he was vs Zhang and Wilder. And based on their last fight Parker couldn't win a technical chess match vs Joshua so I still see Joshua winning.

The Kiwis are taking on the defense of Parker as a matter of national pride. Useless to discuss this with them.

There used to be some decent Kiwi posters around, but they seem to have left or become radicalized of late. I used to enjoy debating with them, but now it's all fanboy stuff and mud-slinging. Pity.

    I might agree with you

Except that lately we have been some of the only ones actually predicting Parker fights correctly

All you "wise" ones have been consistently wrong

Yeah, my playing devil's advocate re personalities was deliberate, OVAH.

I'm not an AJ hater per-se, but I do like and prefer Parker.

I'll say one thing for both fighters, mind. They've both been old school active this last 18 months or so.

And look how good it's paid off for both men.

    ;)

The fact that Zhang is a big southpaw who hits like a freight train and can also take a good punch himself. He'd catch AJ coming in with a nicely timed counter.

He's just fought Wilder and Zhang in a row and you're gonna give him stick for fighting someone AJ was aiming to rematch? Not really fair tbh.

The issue is that even with his recent victories people are still unable to give him credit despite being proven wrong twice in a row. Yet somehow people will give AJ a pass for facing, in comparison, weaker opposition.

A rematch actually makes sense here, yet weirdly you're all already writing him off. It's not a matter of "National pride" or fanboyism. But hey, I guess everyone wants to see AJ get a shot at Usyk a third time instead?

Joshua didn't avoid them Wilder and Joshua were scheduled to fight Joshua did his part by beating Wallin. Wilder lost to Parker in a one sided fight ending any hopes of that fight happening.

As for Ngannou blame Fury for giving him clout Joshua had to take care of him after Fury disgraced the sport with his pathetic display.

Parker got smashed by Joyce ffs. Even if that was a while ago now and even if Parker has improved, Wilder never threw anything, Zhang barely threw anything either, and just sat there waiting to counter.

They're good wins, but not any sign that Parker will be close to a match for AJ.

But that being said, I'd like to see AJ vs Parker 2, preferably for a belt.

    "They hardly threw anything"

Yes - that is called "taking away" the best weapons of the opponent

It was not an accident. Parker did that

And he did it to AJ in their first fight - though not as aggressively as he would now

Parker has improved. And AJ would struggle all night

Personally I have no interest in AJ-Usyk III. Parker would be a better match. And AJ would win. End of.

It’s Parker that’s calling for the Whyte fight, not me. Joshua was looking to fight him after coming off two losses to get an easy win to rebuild his confidence whilst Parker is looking to fight him after two wins. Like I said, he knows his level.
