WBO Champ Joseph Parker is negotiating to fight Hughie Fury in April of 2017. The big question is whether it takes place in UK or New Zealand.

    Your thoughts on this matchup?

if i was in parkers camp hughie fury is definatley not a fighter i would have picked.
he will be hard to look good against and showcase himself.

unless he catches him early and kos him.
fury is a natural boxer / tall long and loose.
he is not that fast parker is faster /but at 6.6 he is light on his feet and knows how to fight even if he is very young in heavyweight terms.
fury has no power and is not a threat to parker power wise but he is not easy to hit clean if he does not want to be and parker is going to have to walk through him to some extent and wear him down.

i rate parker / think he can improve and his speed and combos in the pocket are lovely to watch.

but fury will try to keep this long and parker will have to cut the ring and let his hands go or this will drag on as a so so fight.
my advice to parker would be forget furys head for the first 5 rounds and go to the body and he will reap sucess and wear down fury and make him stationary.
fury is long and lanky without muscle definition and the body shots should work.
if parker just trys to match jabs with fury and follows him around this would be a big mistake.

again not a fight i would have taken to showcase parker either in the uk or nz.

Not an easy fight for Parker if Fury fights like his cousin did in title fight.

Hughie may be featherfisted, but he's very good boxer, and very cautious.

He can outbox Parker from distance.

If I were in Parker's team, I'd pick another opponent for him

Great breakdown, Parker has little infighting skills so I expect him to jab with Fury which will play right into Furys hand. If Parker does manage to get inside and work the body like you said then it will be a 50/50 and I will lean to Fury.

My only worry for Hughie is he has been inactive and Parker has been fighting good competition, if this is in the UK I'll edge to Fury UD and If in NZ then Parker split decision.

Hughie is a very good boxer and if he is over he's health problems he makes easy work of parker, not knocks him out but puts in a boring clinic for 12 rounds

If this isn't a fight they can avoid they are stupid to go after it

But wouldn't a KO really cement Parker's reputation? Esp in UK?

Parker kind of sucks unless he can just range his opponents.

He tried to fight Ruiz toe to toe and was getting smashed. Parker had to give up and just use the same strategy he used against Takam. Which was fighting on the backfoot and out-ranging his opponent.

Parker can't do that with a guy who has a large reach and height advantage over him.

I don't rate Hughie highly, but this seems a bad matchup for Parker.

Fury's defense is his movement and only guys who walk forward seem to have given Joey troubles, both of which, top 10s, he overcame.

Can Fury avoid Parkers sharp L hooks or his counter R hands over the jab????

Not sure this is the best fight for Hughie tbph.

He should pursue Wilder where even as a middling puncher, he has a chance at a highlight reel KO.

Parker would be a good match for Tyson Fury for his supposed "big comeback"

Well some may see it that way but Hughie Fury is undefeated and seen as a formidable opponent. If Parker chose Price, some people would see that as a step down (with all respect to Price) given his record compared to the undefeated Hughie Fury. I doubt it would but if it makes Price and his fans feel better, they can say both Parker and Joshua are ducking him. Price just gotta keep climbing that ladder for now till hes unavoidable.
