Parker seems to fight bum after bum, just like DW do. I really hope he step ups in 2016 and fights someone in top 10. Parker vs Povetkin would be interesting matchup.
It's a bit harsh comparing him to DW. He is 23, and learning. Improving all parts of his game, fight to fight. The fact that the opponents are not coping with his speed and power shows that he does need to step up, but the fact is that his management have a plan which they haven't hidden. The start of 2015 they stated they wanted to keep him busy (5 fights in 2015), they wanted him ranked in all the alphabets (yep, box ticked there), and they wanted him in a top 5 spot in one of those (#5 WBO). Not sure you can ask much more from a guy that started 2015 with 12 fights under him. Patience baconmaker....his time will be mid 2016, where all the cards will start presenting themselves for a run towards a title shot.
Parkers career progression is no different to any other prospect. Wilder fought at a low level for a far greater length of time. If Parker still hasn't fought anybody with a pulse in the next 2 years than we can talk.
I think a fight with Hughie Fury, Dereck Chisora, Robert Helens, Amir Mansour or Bryant Jennings should happen somebody like that. For me Hughie Fury would be the biggest test out of those he could lose that one but these are the type of people he should fight next year. He's ready for something like that now. He's young yes, that's exactly why he should be going for fights like this now.
You do realize If Molina hadn't gotten a shot at Wilder, he was gonna fight Parker right? Meehan, Tupou, Saglam, Williams are better opponents than anyone Wilder fought in his first 25 fights. But I heard they were having hard time convincing contenders to step in the ring with him.
I think it's time for a big fight. A loss is not everything. I'm sick of seeing too many predictable fights.
Parker may well have fought someone a bit more serious by now if people weren't declining. As someone else mentioned Molina was all but signed until Wilder waved money and a title shot at him. Giving Parker stick at this stage is very poor form. He's doing very well at this stage of his career
