Wilder was absolutely finished, nobody who’s best days weren’t behind them has he ever looked impressive against
- Parker has never been KOed by a jab - your man Dubois has. - Parker has never needed to resort to illegal head butts and low blows, your man Dubois has - he beat Hrgovic with illegal head butts, Queensberry referee called it a TKO. - Parker doesn't whine after he loses, like Dubois did after being counted out against Usyk. - Parker has class, Dubois showed he has none when he went in the ring to demand a fight with Usyk, even though he was already scheduled to fight Parker. - Parker is articulate and comes across as an intelligent man, Dubois is dumb as a bag of hammers.
Hype job maybe is going too far but I agree that he is now being overrated thanks to 2 wins which favoured him. I think he was better 6 years ago. The fact he is a top guy now just shows how bad the division is. If he beats Dubious I will give him legit credit though. I think he gets stopped though.
You explained exactly why Parker can’t be the best. He’s a nice guy lacking the ego and killer mindset unlike Dubois who has always been hell bent on being the best and isn’t afraid to upset others. Not like Parker happy to be side man to Fury saying he’ll never fight him since they are friends
I half agree with OP. Parker is indeed overrated right now; like any other heavyweight coming off a win or two. Far from being the technical wunderkind he is recently talked up as, he is basic as hell - he merely circles with loose footwork all night, occasionally throwing pot shots, and falling in behind almost every one. It was only a wet week ago he learned to throw a backhand without closing his eyes, smh. However. His many strengths seem just the tools needed to break Dubois will, yet again. He is hard as nails. Excellent recovery. Mobile. Good cardio. Heart for days. Respectable power. And recently, an increasing ring IQ, unpredictable shot selection, and consistently coherent fight plan designed to maximize these attributes. Seems to me that Parker should be able to comfortably keep it competitive on the cards till late. And historically Dubois has wilted horribly against serious opposition late. Or perhaps this fight will confirm that Dubois really did simply need a little bit of confidence, as so many have suggested. What a good match up. Huge credit to the winner of this real deal fight.
Andy Lee is an excellent trainer - he comes up with the gameplans for his fighters, and thus far has always been pretty much on the money. The way they kept Wilder from pulling the trigger by feinting and using front foot pressure and head movement was excellent and so effective. They made Wilder look worse than he is now. His gameplans are great - and he does everything he can to train the boxers to execute it - he’s definitely been getting the best out of his fighters. another measure of him as a coach is how happy his fighters are - they love him, love the camps, and never question his strategies or techniques. This is a huge part of being a great coach.
I like the way Andy Lee advises his fighters in the corner as well, he gives tangible workable advice without overloading them. Helps them to feel calm and collected and confident to win as well. I can't remember which fight, but there was one time where Andy Lee told Paddy(?) to double jab, then the opponent will come in and he can hit him with the right hook. And it worked like three times in a row before the opponent caught on.
Andy Lee, aka, the genius, mastermind, Einstein honestly, I don’t understand the hype on Andy Lee! He’s ok. why are coaches trying to be bigger figures than their fighters? Ben, Lee?? English or irish accents don’t make you a better coach. Neither does explaining things in a way the fans like.
