Stop it. Watch him against Whyte or Ruiz. It was action packed and he went for it. He was probably 1 minute away from stopping Whyte in that last round. He's afraid to throw punches these days. He's clearly not in boxing anymore, neither with the head nor with his heart.

He fought scared against Joshua, his career defining opponent. And the book on him was out there prior to that. I grant you that he fought much more aggressively *in situations*, but he never has been some stalker warrior. But I take your point that tonight was a full step down from some of his prior bouts.

Thats all pillowfist Parker is, a gatekeeper. Nothing more. Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora will do well to become the next Kevin Johnson. We will use Parker and Chisora as a measuring stick for upcoming heavyweights like Filip Hrgovic, Michael Hunter, and Jared Anderson.

Then again Ruiz didn't beat Parker but blitzed Anthony Joshua so you never know

This version of Parker just has no killer instinct. It’s like he is just going with the motion. he is fighting cause the money is to good to pass up. He ain’t making a 7 figure payday doing anything else.

Can only be stamina at this stage I think. He's not willing to throw to the point of exhaustion as Chisora does.

Crazy when you look at the way someone like Tua would get his opponent out of there. Physically you'd pick Parker as the better stamina. But Tua would throw punches in bunches of 10-20 and look fine afterwards.

I was screaming at the TV when he would land combos and rock Chisora, and instead of piling on the pressure, he'd let Chisora off by admiring his work and letting him off the hook. He could have made tonight far easier and even gotten him out of there if he had some killer instinct. Sadly he doesn't have that killer instinct and is too nice to be a top boxer.

He doesn't need to retire, but I've stopped thinking about him as a potential champion and more like a high end gatekeeper now. Trouble is he just doesn't bring any drama to the ring the way someone like Chisora does because he's so spectacularly without ambition. Who wants to watch an averagely skilled slapper-puncher that looks like a hulkified Keanu Reeves do just enough to scrape decisions against top twenty guys? At least someone like Chisora isn't afraid to bring it, even if he loses more often than not. Hell, even Helenius is more intriguing than this guy. Parker could have Malik Scott begging to take a dive for him and he'd hold back.

You're absolutely right my friend. He needs the DOC as his mental coach.

I wouldn't say he is shot.. But he is clearly not in the game (which I guess is in some way a form of being shot) . He has absolutely no desire to make it a clear win or take risks or even throw punches. Pre-AJ he at least would throw punches and trade... Chisora was a sitting target there and on the r brief Occasions Parker would throw fast combos Chisora was flustered. Parker just is completely passive. Just very very disappointing

You guys all got me wrong. He's not shot like an old fighter who hasn't the physical abilities to compete anymore. It's his mental state. He's clearly NOT in the fight game anymore. He has no desire to fight. Chisora was gassed out after 6-7 rounds and Parker wasn't even trying to take advantage of it. I don't think he wants to fight anymore. He looks scared. Not interested. He clearly has the tools and skills but his head isn't there.
