Parker is a good prospect but very overrated, Joshua would of got the KO over Meehan in 1 round. I think both Cornish and Johnson were better opponents than this guy, Joshua would KO Parker in less than 4 rounds.
I'm not seeing it. Joshua is a super prospect, Parker is just a bright one. I think Parker is more on the lever with Charles Martin and Andy Ruiz Jr. than Joshua. I think Usyk would move to Hvyt and beat him right now.
Is there any reasoning behind the above or just because loves Joshua? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Joshua won't be a better prospect or otherwise but Meehan is a step up in level above anything Joshua has fought - a few of us would have been watching this because it's the first fight either of Parker or Joshua have gone against someone who are very used to preparing to and then actually winning at the level they are rated at. Parker has not lost a round since going pro, has fought similar (or now better) quality opponents to Joshua and has been tested in more ways and passed happily yet somehow Joshua will knock him out easy when what is required to do that is completely unknown. Again, is there are reasoning to this and I so , please share ?
Meehan has been fighting for 18 years and he has NEVER beaten a good fighter...not one. Kingpin Johnson at least beat Leapai. That's not even to mention that Leapai is 10 years past a prime he never had. Joshua is rated higher because he is bigger, more powerful, more fundamentally sound, and had a better amateur career.
Kali didn't become #1 contender by not beating anyone and his SD loss of his world title shot against Lamon Brewster was quite controversial
Parkers resume is deeper..... Nevertheless both guys have both faced respectable opposition considering where they are in their careers.
You're kidding right? Joshua has beaten about 4 guys better than 45 year old, Kali "I was brutally stopped by Danny Williams in a round in my prime" Meehan
Danny Williams fight hardly represents Meehan's career. Things can go very wrong easily and that's one of very few losses he had.
I think you are over rating the version of Meehan Parker fought. Meehan lost to Travis Walker a journeymen in 2012 then retired for 2 years before coming back last year. Meehan may have been pretty good in his prime but now at 45 is far removed from his best days. I'd say Joshua beating a faded Johnson is comparable to Parker beating Meehan.
