In the comfort zone with Barry. I still say they,ve learnt a lot from the last two fights. Its not over for parker yet anyway. I think the main thing to take away is parker needs to get bigger and stronger now. Needs to forget about the back foot boxing with his short reach as a main tactic anyway. That's been their main problem imo they,ve been concentrating on the boxing in training and not enough on the sport science. With the short reach he's taking too much back...without having the strength/stamina to win the dogfight against the better guys anyway. There's a reason Joshua/klitchko etc spend/t a lot of their time working on strength work. Whyte probably the same nowadays. And most top heavys. Its the way it is nowadays. You could get away with being the better boxer like fury....but guys like that have a lot longer reaches than parker. Their not taking much back. Parkers stuck with a style that doesn't suit his dimensions. Leads to him getting caught with shots...he then loses the dogfight cause they,ve not giving him the tools for a dogfight. Size/strength and stamina. He's got plenty of fight in him...its just that he realizes he will lose the battle of the dogfight cause these guys are stronger than him and goes back to trying to box. Get him bigger and stronger. He,ll get more success IMO.
he has an unhealthy relationship with losing, too comfortable with it. he needs someone to make a soldier out of him. he should be coming to the ring with the mindset of refusing to lose, which can be nurtured, even if youre not the bravest guy around. sounds like the team he has now is a bunch bff's who probably blow a little too much smoke up each others asses. a signed fight is a mission, they should treat it like one and prepare him for going to war, which is mostly mental preparation at this stage, with a few tweaks in the technical side.
I'm done with the guy. He starts out promising for 3 rds then always reverts to pitty-patting head-as-a-defence type. He's fit and has a great chin, but that's it.
Funny how big money can change one motivation for the worse,I like that guy who Amir Khan is now with.
And maybe that’s his level, when you look at how he hurt Whyte though in the last round you gotta put it down to it being a mental thing and for that he needs a shrink.
yes, broner is another one that has never learned how to deal with adversity, they mentally defeat themselves when it gets hot in there.
Yes and as such they get stuck,Broner and maybe Parker fight very safe which makes for dull fights as it’s so hard to KO someone who’s boxing to not get KOd,has to be the case as both in the last few rounds suddenly start to look good when going for the KO.
As already mentioned in another post today Enzo Calzague he would provide the energy that sleepy Joe would need
Idk about Chisora for him.. Chisora is a dog in the ring like Whyte and as we saw in the Whyte fight it’s not in him to fight that kind of fight at the moment.. He needs confidence builders for his next 3 fights against the likes of Pulev, Martin, Szpilka or Arreola where it’s decent wins.. Definitely not the likes of Miller, Whyte, Chisora, Ortiz or even Wilder.. His problem right now is he might need to change trainers for mostly motivation and heart purposes.. sort of how Emmanuel Steward tweaked small things in Lewis and Wlad but was able to bring out the mean streak in them.. the difference is those guys were big punchers who needed better coordination whereas Parker’s punching power is lacking at the elite level
I think Parker is doing quite well with his current team. Probably he'll never be the #1 man but he's still one of the best in the division. He actually did better than most people have predicted against Joshua and I think he was unfortunate against Whyte for a number of reasons. He almost won by 12th round TKO against Whyte, was robbed of points the second round by a huge headbutt (which Whyte was massively rewarded for on the scorecards) and was actually up against constant illegal unpenalized fouling tactics the entire fight. And even then, many unbiased ringsiders it a draw at the end on the score cards. He showed massive heart coming back from the second (and only legit) knockdown. I think people are going overboard criticizing him.
He was in great shape, it was just a hard fight and he was the one doing majority of the work..Parker was the one who needed his second wind to comeback..It was winnable for Joe, he just hasn't got much dog in him compared to Whyte
Stick with Barry, just make adjustments...I'd lose Higgins at 35% though, ****ing terrible cut that is
In a very real sense this fight had similarities to the Joshua fight, except Whyte pushed the issue. Joshua let him off the hook whereas Whyte made him fight. My opinion of him has dropped, he seems a good fighter when he has a cooperative opponent, otherwise....
