'I'm feeling GREAT!' - Joseph Parker in high hopes ahead of Title shot against Dubois | FSN He is talking about coming in between 253-256 lbs. He says he has put on size. IMO this is a mistake. He needed to come in around 235 lbs or so. Movement movement movement. He isn't magically going to punch like Zhang or Dubois if he puts on another 10 pounds.
Against Joyce, the higher weight was a really bad idea. It's not as bad of an idea against Dubois, but still probably not a good idea. Dubois does not have anywhere the Chin that Joyce has, so we could see a KO. After all, he was KO'd by Usyk.
I'm concerned about this. Hopefully their game plan is solid enough to compensate. Are they gonna go for a stoppage here? Maybe they need to.
He is implying he is looking for more power and hence, stoppage. I think its incredibly silly. He is not that tall. I saw him standing next to Lewis in the Usyk-Fury pre fight analysis and he looked 1-2 inches shorter than Lennox. Yet he is planning to come in heavier than peak Lewis? Jesus. He needs to take a page from Usyk's book. Why are both Parker and even Okolie putting on so much weight when the best heavyweight on the planet is so much lighter? I am mystified.
Well - he has put on the weight slowly and in a "natural" buildup If it increases power, Maybe it will suit him?
Usyk is notably heavier than his ideal weight imo, which is cruiserweight. Height has nothing to do with it. It's the impact it has on speed and endurance.
Seems dumb. 6'4 235 is plenty big for a heavyweight and he probably hits just as hard at this weight due to the extra speed.
A gamble, for sure, but it might pay off. Parker isn't much of a puncher, but Dubious has a suspect chin. He must be trying to put on muscle to deal with Dubois strength and hit hard enough to keep Dubois off of him.
