Because Parker has signed a contract with a new promoter, which you'd know if you read the OP. Warren jumping the gun before anything was signed is on him, not Parker.

I'm disappointed he isn't fighting Joyce, but I blame the promoters for that.

JP passig on the Hrgovic eliminator was a real disappointment.

As I said earlier in this thread, it seems like he may be less concerned about securing a future title challenge than getting good paydays.

Here are the short-term (within 6 months) possibilities that I see.

• Dillian Whyte rematch. I think this fight could happen, but I think a fight between Dillian and DuBois is a bigger gate now. JP is definitely a more accomplished fighter at this stage than DD, but DD and DW have a bit of a feud per DD's "cessation of hostilities" with Joe Joyce during their fight. Not sure if DD's handlers think he's ready for DW, so JP vs. DD 2 seems to stand a better chance.
  
  
• Michael Hunter. If and only if he beats Fury on July 2nd. That's not guranateed, IMO and Michael Hunter has acquired a reputation in the past 2 years from suddenly walking away from fighs with little explanation.
  
  
• Martin Bakole. Martin has a bit of a following now from having beaten Yoka. If JP wins, his reputation would benefit from showing he can beat a big hitter still in his prime.
  
  
• Lucas Browne. A matchup that borders on the criminal given Browne's age. But with LB having wiped out Fa in a single round - a fighter that JP made a 12 round meal out of that he couldn't finish - you have the groundwork for a big-money fight if LB wants to call him out. I hope it doesn't happen, but...

Parker should fight, Whyte, Ruiz Jr, then Joyce. He definitely needs more time with his new style.

That's been tested against who? Joyce is a stationary target tailor made for Wilder. Even one of the most elusive and skilled boxers Tyson Fury barely survived those right hands.

 

1 fight a year. Probably get to the third fight before you get paid for the first one.
