Stamina hasn't been an issue before the Takam fight. Granted he hasn't had such a durable pressure fighter in the ring with him since probably Tank Sherman in his early part of his career. Parker admitted he over did the training camp. Came in lighter than others, feeling drained and was guilty of doing extra workouts in his room (hundreds of pressups). He is 24 and still understanding how his body responds when pushed. That all being said how many young fighters out their gain this experience against a legit top 15 HW? Please compare the 17th fight of some of the others floating around the scene currently...
The Tyson Fury who surprised me against Wladimir with his movement should be favoured to beat everyone else. Any combination of Wilder, Joshua and Parker are all good, hard to call fights. Though Parker received criticism over the Takam fight it's not entirely fair. Had he drowned in the eighth after that volley many would be pointing at too great a jump in class, insisting he can come again. We found out he's not Mike Tyson but we also know he's not the finished article. No, Takam isn't some avoid-at-all-costs contender, but if you compare him to, say, Joshua's recent fodder, there's a world of difference. The defence, the movement, he's actually quite polished.
If they fought 10 times too. Parker is leauges above wild-er in every category. The lineal title will be decided by AJ and him in the next couple years.
He absolutely does low info fan. Carlos Takam is better and more proven than anyone Wild-er has faced. In fact, duhaupas is the best win on Wild-er's resume based on his KO win over the waaaay past it and often injured helenius.
There's a reason why Wilder has been kept away from top opposition.
While I think Wilder's improved, I agree. He's not been in with a threat since Stiverne. Had he faced at the bare minimum Gerald Washington, it would have shown that his team had more confidence. I think his team is at the root of all of the Wilder doubt. Kinda like an overprotective mom who won't let little Johnny cross the seldom traveled road. .....Well Johnny is 18 already! This content is protected
Povetkin was framed and should win his lawsuit against Wilder for lying, degradation of character, etc. Povetkin was clean................but anything to protect Wilder. How many can get by without fighting their mandatories? Wilder 4 voluntary defenses against bums................
Povetkin wasn't "framed". The 70ng of meldonium was there. The point of contention is whether this could have been due to his use of it prior to the ban or not. Grindeks, the manufacturer of mildronat admits that it takes many months to leave the system and that excretion is erratic. Therefore it seems plausible that Sasha did not take after the ban. I would agree that the WBC now needs to take a stand and tell Wilder to defend against Povetkin. :deal
A friend of mine suggested that Parker Wilder would be a heavyweight version of Froch vs Bute. I saw the Froch/Parker comparison - a sturdy chin and above average power with what appears to be a strong will and plenty of self belief. I struggled a bit more with the Bute/Wilder one until he said overhyped can/fringe contender crusher with a questionable chin who would wilt in the fight and not throw enough punches before being ground down for a stylistic comparison between him and Lucien to be made.
I can see this injury stopping his career before he ever faced anyone near the top,it's such a bad injury that it's gonna take a long time to heal beforee can even train and then he's gonna need one possibly two tune up fights(some would argue that's all he's ever done)unless he learns how to punch without throwing the kitchen sink he's likely to re injure himself in the first tune up fight. I'd love to see Wilder v Parker or one of the other top guys cause for all the stick we give him on here the fighters themselves don't want him with the exception of Povetkin and Fury,he is feared though I fear his career is over?
