Takam is probably too much too soon for Parker at this point. Would be a very intriguing match up but I'd clearly pick the way more experienced Takam.

I do want to see Parker pick it up in his next fight or so but not someone on Takam's level yet. He's a top 10 fighter and I don't think Parker is quite yet.

And he lost to Povetkin. And he drew with Perez.

Aside from guys from the 90s (Botha and Grant), he's not very effective.

    And Takam fighting this guy?

People give guys like Deontay Wilder so much **** on this board.

Joseph Parker is unproven and untested, got owned in the WSB and lost a third of his amateur fights. Takam is a fringe contender AT BEST.

The fact that they are in the running for an IBF eliminator against the winner of Glazkov-Martin (neither of whom should be even getting a whiff of a title fight, either) is embarrassing.

If people are going to rag on Wilder ... RAG ON ALL THESE GUYS. Because they aren't even as good as Wilder.

Look at the difference in "knockout" stats for each.

That tells you a lot right there.

    LOL.

Parker has won every Pro fight he has been in. Watch Parker - Meehan or Parker Tupou for a proper Pro slugfest.

Takam was robbed against perez top 5 at the moment, and he beat a top 10 in tony thompson...

No - I give him the fight because of POWER.

Takam is often not a "KO" fighter. Parker has awesome KO power.

Both are even in other ways - or Takam might be better.

But POWER will take this fight

    No defense? Really? C'mon man.

If you have watched his last 4 fights, his defense (head movement in particular) has developed significantly.

Definitely not the best defensive fighter around. But you can argue he has the tools to support his flaws.

With a division like the current HW division, there is no one that stands out with great defense. The reality is, his greatest flaw is his defense, where as most of the division have very flawed technique, lack of speed and terrible stamina. There are some big punchers in the division but most of which lack the ability to exploit their power against a faster more agile fighter like Parker, AJ and Wilder.

I assure you, Parker will get a title fight. His defense is sound until he gets in a brawl. If he fights the way he ought to, he would be a competitive favorite in the next 1-2 years.

    :thumbsup just my 2 cents.

Exactly what does that tell us ? Picking fights off ko% is about as smart as picking baseball games on number of HR's only. Actually, probably be more accurate with picking BB games than fights.. ohhh ta, you're one of those power and glass posters. That's what you love,

Nope - I have simply seen Parker walk through power shots from decent hitters and then start bombing them.

I think Takam is in for a torrid night.

Not sure I agree with you here Kiwi...

I don't see this fight being won with power at all.

I have Parker as a favorite against a solid opponent in Takam, by he use of range and accumulative damage to the body. Parker works well from angles and has the speed to do it while under pressure. Not with one punch but by accumulative damage. His body work is better than anyone else in the division.

If you watch the Takam vs Povetkin fight you will see Takam trying to utilize his power by pressuring Povetkin. With 2 slow fighters like that fight he was able to use his power effectively. When someone stands in front of you it is much easier to load off punches with little defense. When someone circles and has great hand speed, you are required to fight a different fight. Just like Parker will need to keep his hands up against someone like Takam.

Parker is open to uppercuts against someone like Takam, but I don't expect Parker to be stupid enough to keep himself on the inside long enough to leave himself susceptible to it.

Being one dimensional will not win Takam the fight (Tua as a prime example).

This is also a little far fetched bro.

Parker has a good chin, not a granite one (see Nascimento fight).

If Joe gets caught up in a brawl, he can be tagged. As someone who keeps his hands down while throwing combinations he leaves himself susceptible to uppercuts and overhands.

KIA needs to calm down a little, Parker is a great prospect who probably has a great future. But best not to get ahead of ourselves here, Takam is quite the leap from anyone he's faced.

We've seen what's happened in the past to heralded prospects who stepped up in class too soon... Price/Thompson, even Joshua had some issues with Whyte. When you go from journeyman, even tough ones to someone with skill and the same will to win that you do who's already faced some of the best the world has to offer things tend to get a little tougher!
