I would hope they make the winner WBO interim champion. And then AJ can take Pulev first and the winner of Usyk vs. Parker second?
Who gives a toss about AJ vs Parker again. What AJ needs to do is dump that worthless WBO belt. Its a junk belt anyway.
Na that just creates another unnecessary belt holder. Best case AJ keeps it and unifies against the winner Fury/Wilder down the line.
Parker's only fight in 2019 was a dismal slog against Alex Leapai on a Demetrius Andrade undercard. Usyk's only fight in 2019 was the Chazz Witherspoon performance. Now we have to wait another six months for them to fight for a vacant WBO belt? So we can have the FOURTH different WBO champ in five fights? I'm having flashbacks to the 1980s. Page losing to Tubbs. Tubbs losing to Witherspoon. Witherspoon losing to Smith. Rinse and repeat. How damaged is Anthony Joshua? Seriously. Wilder just fought. He's fighting Fury in February. Joshua, after that foot race on Saturday, can't keep both belts and fight old man Pulev in March? Pulev's last fight was against Rydell Booker (who he couldn't stop). Pulev hasn't fought anyone in three years (since he qualified for a title shot last time and backed out). He should be a quick and easy defense.
I do not think AJ is ducking Usyk. Matchroom is smart to vacate and create more opportunities for the stable. Would love to see winner of Parker/Usyk battle Wilder first though. I don't care to see that winner face Joshua straight away in the UK.
people will spend that on a weekend trip, so why not for a stacked card headed by Tony Dosh in a unification bout.
