Fish-eyes Frank at it again... Found this in the local news:

"Parker, as a voluntary title defence for Dubois, is required to agree to a one-way rematch clause. Parker’s manager David Higgins is still working through the contractual fine print that is stacked in Dubois’ favour.

'It’s like doing a merger acquisition deal,' Higgins said. 'There’s money, rematch clauses, options, revenue share.

'The contract has to deal with all eventualities; what if Joseph wins, what is the commercial deal for two, three fights away. The drug testing regime everyone wants in place and it will be. The neutrality of the officials. These are complicated, comprehensive deals that take time to do. We’re grateful to everyone for making this happen.'"

Well it doesn't surprise me that Frank has inserted a one-way rematch clause; he has long proven himself the worst of the bunch for that. However, this makes zero sense for Parker to agree to such a deal. Parker is WBO interim (and therefore mandatory to the winner of Usyk v Fury 2). He could just take a tune up, and if the real champion doesn't fight him next, he becomes full WBO champion by default. At which point he has the same leverage as Dubois. Why on earth would Parker agree to be locked into a two-fight deal with a secondary champion, when he is next up to fight the actual champion of the division?

He'll have more leverage and less competition against Dubios for the unification fight if he beats him first. I respect that, short term pain for long term gain.

We've all seen how long interm champs can go on hold for.

What if Parker gets robbed, that's the most likely outcome imo

If he beats him first, then he will have the rematch, and he potentially loses his position as up next with WBO. Maybe he gets a unification fight, or maybe winner of Usyk v Fury 2 has to fight the winner of Kabayel v Zhang. Unfortunately, I suspect this decision by Parker will have knock on effects of further fragmenting the belts. All that being said, I'm not against Parker fighting Dubois, I just don't think he should be signing up to a one-way rematch clause, or any rematch clause at all, to be honest.

Beats waiting a couple of years for no title shot. Hopefully he can force a stoppage.

But he could still hold an actual title at the least rather than wait to see if the IBO enforces their mandatory. Either way the belts are likely to fragment but this way he gets more leverage.

The rematch clause seems difficult to escape with Frank. E.g. Zhang

Possibly the case if Fury wins, but then again, Fury seems to have no love for the IBF title. And I'm not sure Parker holding the IBF title would change much from Usyk's perspective as he doesn't really need to collect the belts. But an eventual Parker fight, if all things go according to plan for Parker, would be more marketable perhaps.

Comes as no surprise whatsoever. Hearn for example, does the exact same thing.

All the more reason for them not to contractually commit to fighting him again.

    It's not fair. It's boxing.

Makes it even less likely we'll get Usyk-Parker, which is the only heavyweight fight left I was hoping we'd see Usyk in.

As a Parker fan I'd rather see this, Dubois is wrong for Parker stylistically.

Usyk is too good, but Parker won't take major damage and given Usyk's age there is a (small) chance Father Time catches him suddenly.

Fair play imo. Or I am just desensitized by all the rematches going on now.

    Of course he has.

Dubois got a tittle shot after beating Trevor Bryan.

    He is privileged.

I really hope Parker can KO him sooner than Usyk did.
