My point exactly I do not think Murray v ***an would get a live slot on a normal Saturday Fight night on Sky let alone PPV chief support.
Why does a much smaller promotional outfit putting out a crap undercard mean the money man in the UK shouldn't be moaned at for putting on **** cards?
I feel a bit sorry for Joseph Parker, to be honest. He's come all the way to England to defend against his mandatory challenger who happens to be Hughie FURY, a Tyson's cousin, a famous name in boxing. Parker should expect better exposure, especially as he's looking to a unification with Joshua. He'd be better of fighting Haye on Dave channel.
it's not about them putting out a crap undercard, it's the fact that they are gonna put it on ppv thats the problem, the chief support on this ppv card is barely a saturday fight night undercard fight let alone co main event for a ppv. it should be on a free to air channel, with no major titles on the undercard how can this possible be a ppv card? Hearn's saturday fight night cards are 10x better than this ppv card, there's the problem.
It shouldn't be PPV at all, I agree on that much. Neither are remotely well known either, it'll no doubt tank. That said, I still think the main event makes it more appealing than a lot of the dross we've seen on a Saturday night. Especially when you consider the resources Matchroom have.
If this was on regular ITV it would be absolutely fine- I'm not entirely sure why the network are so reluctant to put boxing on ITV1. It's a good fight if it goes ahead- you'd have to fancy Parker to edge it but it's a 60/40 fight in his favour at best.
I am critical of the undercard think both Parker and H Fury are not big names to the mainstream in the UK but I do believe the main event will be a very good fight and I believe Hughie Fury will win and for most of the fight box Parkers ears off.
If you think of the good fighters outside of Matchroom/Queensberry were possible deals could have been done to be on the bill. Frampton in a wee tune over and a wee payday for recent training camp he's went through (plus other fighters from Cyclone without a fight date after recent cancellation). Kid Galahad in a good fight, Simmons v Askin (know that's on at meadowbdnk but with Furys close links to MTK they could have got that fight).
when you add in all the ppv cards and international fight nights as well as nxtgen and saturday fight nights, i think sky are delivering what the fans want.
Exactly! Hearn just put on **** because he can and his fanboys make it out to be a quality card! Smaller promoters have no choice!
Give over! Sky dont give a **** about real fights. Mismatches galore and the odd quality International boxing card. They pass up the Word boxing series AND GGG v Canelo but bring us the circus show next week.
Two different things. Warren can't get credit for showing GGG-Canelo the same way Hearn can't get credit for Sky showing INTL fights. And honestly, Nxtgen as a concept is cool but I don't think I know anyone who 'wanted' what they've been given so far on those cards.
