Yep I noticed the same a better schooled fighter would of taken advantage of those openings. But as I've been saying for ages Parker has never been taught how to counter.

When he slips shots he puts himself in bad positions where he isn't able to counter. A well schooled fighter when slipping a shot moves into a position the counter, so slips the shot and counters back. Parker just slips the shot, puts himself in an overly defensive posture when he can't defend himself from a follow up attack and so has to move away, so again can't offer a counter, which an opponent eventually figures out and so they walk him down knowing nothing is coming back.

in a few hours, mikey will show everyone how a properly schooled boxer slips and counters with perfect balance and footwork.

Funny, i thought it was abc type stuff, to slip and counter. Parker literally emloyed not one slip and counter. It was always the reel back with flailing arms like a novice. Might be time for a sports psychologist me thinks; or retire.

I've noticed that quite a few quick fisted fighters never learn to counter punch well. They get used to always getting off first and then never having to counter, but when they step up or face some one that can beat them to the punch it costs them.

Amir Khan is a prime example, he's always getting off first, then runs a bit, stops, gets off first, then runs again. But he almost never counters. Only time I've seen him consistently do it was when he first hooked up with Hunter but he quickly reverted back to his old style when things got tough.

Wlad too, was never much of a counter puncher, fast hands, get of first, then clinch to prevent a counter. If he had learned to counter he might of found a way to overcome Fury or at least would of been more competitive.

Parker would actually do very well adopting a jab and grab style. He's quick enough to get off first vs almost anyone and then wouldn't have to worry about being open to being countered like by the left hook Whyte caught him with.

The 2nd Rd knockdown was actually a headclash and from that moment on he seemed dazed, eyes were closed and blinking and looked out on his feet. Very strange. I thought his corner would throw the towel in. Ref gave Whyte a long time to recover before letting fight continue at the end. Parker was either concussed or finished. aHe will probably have a nothin fight in NZ then retire.

In fairness, in most of those middle rounds he wasn't even slipping punches. There was one round when Whyte landed the laziest jab of all time, clean, about a dozen times in a row with Parker having his hands by his side.

I think we saw Parker peak for joshua. Ths fight, for me, would show whether he 'got it', for lack of a better term. Alas, he doesnt seem to 'get it'. Disappointing. I thought we'd see him for a few more years, in some good tactical fights, showing some nice skills he seemed to acquire from joshua. Instead he just fought a fight where years were taken off his boxing life IMO. I think he should retire tbh
