$1.4 million is actually embarrassing for a Heavyweight World Champion, seriously embarrassing. I actually feel sorry for him, an American heavyweight world champion and $1.4 million is all they can come up with defending that title in his own country? Kell Brook earned more defending his title, more fighting Golovkin.
40% based on what? Wilder earned $1.4 million in his last fight. I'm assuming that's around his average purse since winning the title. He doesn't fill stadiums, he doesn't sell huge PPV's. My question for the last two weeks has been this.. Why is Wilder earning so little compared to Joshua if he is worth 40% or 50% in this fight?
That' just based on what his promoter is willing to pay. Wilder when it comes down to negotiations will deserve 40% imo because he brings the WBC HW title belt to the table. His TV ratings are considerably good, and he' looked at by most as the best American Heavyweight on the scene and that' a big deal to Boxing fans.. This fight is going to generate millions of dollars making the entire pot huge, and has already garnered worldwide media attention and has quickly become the biggest fight to make in 2018.. No doubt when this fight happens it will be a PPV extravaganza, so why wouldn' Wilder deserve 40% based off that?
I have to disagree, if Wilder is such a big deal in America, doing considerably good numbers then regardless of the promoter he would be on far more than 1-2 million per defence. Joshua earns 10-15 times more than Wilder per fight now, he does great numbers and fills stadiums. It's Joshua who brings the money, it's Joshua who makes this a huge fight, all Wilder brings is a WBC title in my opinion. The way I see it is like this, if Wilder fought Parker would it better Joshua Vs Parker? Would it make anywhere near as much money? Not a chance, Wilder does not generate money, it's Joshua who generates it and therefore Wilder should be happy with 25% because that will still dwarf his best earnings.
It won't happen this way. Joshua understands the magnitude of this fight and will have to agree to at least 40% otherwise no fight.
The way I see it: Parker and Wilder both want the highest % they can possibly get from Hearn. They also want to be AJ's next opponent because they both know that if they wait; they risk a defeat themselves or even AJ could lose and *poof* goodbye massive payday. Also, by the looks of things so far, Fury is taking his comeback/fitness pretty seriously and if he keeps it up then he will come into the fold, then the real money fight is AJ vs Fury, goodbye payday for Parker or Wilder. In the next couple of weeks I think we will have our next big fight, it's up to Parker and Wilder's team. The first to say "OK" and accept that they are the B-side by a large margin gets the fight, gets the opportunity and more importantly to them (or at least their promoters): gets the money. But I fully expect it to be Parker vs AJ next as Wilder will do anything to carry on fighting bums and claiming to be the "most feared" (lol) man in boxing.
I agree with everything your saying, Except i think 30% whereas you think 40%. Lets not pretend we feel that different from each other over 10 freaking percent, lol Put it this way, if Wilder beats AJ i am sure he will then be charging the big bucks as it has always happened.
Joshua fans are talking about what Joshua's opponents deserve and he isn't even the hvw champion, lmao. Kill the thread. You're repeating yourselves.
Only way he gets 40% is if US PPV is part of the deal. At the moment neither are big enough names in the US to warrant any network risking it. Fact is 90% plus of the financing from this fight is coming from the UK at the moment which is why Wilder doesn't get anywhere near 40% at this moment in time. But should Wilder be the one opponent that gives Joshua and Hearn access to the lucrative US PPV market then yes maybe 40% is possible as the pot as a whole will be far bigger than it currently is. And this is the main reason why this fight isn't next. Wilder wants more than he can get at this moment in time, Hearn won't pay that much unless they can get paid more too even if their percentage is smaller than usual. So we have Wilder calling out AJ at every opportunity in an attempt to raise his profile and both sides negotiating knowing full well neither really wants it next now but they have to go through the motions for the sake of appearances. Wilder fanboys will say Joshua is scared, Joshua fanboys will say Wilder doesn't deserve the fight etc.
he's no 'world champion', he's a belt holder - big difference world champion is singular, and only Joshua has done anything of note to earn that right
Parker and Wilder both hold world title belts and neither is going to defend them against Joshua for peanuts. If Hearn wants to unify the titles he will have to part with a fair and reasonable portion of the profits.
If Hearn agrees to 60% for Joshua and 40% for Parker, the fight is on possibly as early as March 2018.
