Parker tends to do much better against taller fighters where he can be aggressor. We should see it this time.
There are two ways of looking at those fights. One is the way you've described. The other is that it's important for talented up & coming fighters to be tested a couple of times on the way up. That is, to get a couple of hard 10-rounders under their belt before they're exposed to the best the division has to offer. In Takam & Ruiz, it's fair to say Parker was matched to the full extent of his ability. He passed both tests (albeit just). I think there was clear improvement between those two fights. Parker was stuffed after 5 rounds with Takam but was able to fight the full 12 against Ruiz. Right now Parker is beatable, but his progress is solid. He's an undefeated world champ at 24. If they pick the right fights for him in the right locations from here on in, there's no reason to believe he can't improve further.
I am not a resume man per se. I look at the fighters style in relation to each other. plus thier character and other attributes or intangibles that you can't put stats on. I then play the pros and cons in my head of them fighting, then I determine if for me it makes for a good fight. Miller has good stamina, fast hands, excellent power, good movement and good chin. Plus he's hungry. It is just a fight that I would like to see. I know that Miller will be coming for his.
What story would that be? Here in New Zealand, Hughie Fury is more popular than Miller as far as the boxing gym talks go. I've never heard of Miller but from what you say, he sounds good. See the thing is, if Parker picks Miller others might say he ducked Fury especially here where Hughie is known. You cant really be accused for ducking an unknown. I hope Parker just picks the one thats good for him financially and for his career.
In the gutter? FFS he is undefeated and only 24 yrs old. Even if he loses a close fight, he has plenty of time to come back, and still be considered a top 10 fighter over the next 6-8 years. He's not going to start snorting coke and getting fat.
Yeah, 24 years old. If you can't show any improvements while you're young, active, motivated, and fighting at the absolute highest you're currently able to then when will you improve? Time isn't the restraint here. It's ability.
Yeah, I hear you on that, It's just a fight that I would like to see. However, like I said; Parker is an excellent fighter and I would watch him regardless of who he fought because if he keeps winning he will run into to all those gents down the line.
If there's anyone who's educated enough to have an opinion on a 24 year old it's another 24 year old. Debate me.
No Im not going to debate you on that. The point I was trying to make was, your post makes you sound old, thats all. Because that underlined sentence is what you'd expect from an older observer. All good
I was jesting anyhow. I try to be impartial and not speak on things I'm not educated on. Though I consider that post as slightly stepping out of my boundaries. I was referring to the current crop of heavyweights when typing it. Parker could easily still be here in 10 years and the HW scene could have a completely different top 5. But as for that being the same Parker we know today I doubt it.
