Always has been. As a Kiwi I have watched Parker for a long time and now I suddenly see. Even against AJ you can see he faded after Rnd 6. Stamina was the big problem - not other things. So when he hangs around waiting for the "other guy to tire" he always gets in trouble. When much lighter he might do better. But right now he should retire. Got the money. Get out now.
It’s not just stamina, it’s desire, concentration and ultimately he is too nice. He has happy to say I gave a good effort rather than say I gave it my all even though it wasn’t good enough.
His trainer is rubbish, he needs a motivator in the corner to get in his face and wind him up. He's got good skills but he one of those guys who is too laid back and needs a gee up. Enzo calzaghe would be a good choice.
Agree with this. Whyte was ready for the taking in the 11-12th rounds but Parker did not have the energy to go through with it. Just too little too late due to lack of stamina.
I agree that the body shots were brutal but when Whyte was there for the taking, if Parker had more stamina, he could still have pulled this one out late.
Of course.... I also think that Whyte would've won convincingly if he didn't knock Parker down. Before the knockdown, Parker couldn't throw as Whyte was destroying his body.
He simply doesn’t have enough strings to his bow. He doesn’t read a fight or a fighter particularly well, so he’s unable to adjust his game plan accordingly. It’s all good and well when your corner is advising you, but if the fighter doesn’t fully understand the problem, then he’s in trouble. It’s a shame, because he’s got fast hands, reasonable power, he can put combinations together well, and in general he’s a tidy fighter, but he doesn’t have a elite boxing brain.
I am looking forward to his retirement interviews where he comes clean on the real reasons why he has fallen short in his career defining fights. Let’s put it his way. “stamina” is not the defining factor in his losses.
Relax Kiwi. This is the second time you've called for him to retire. The first was after the Joshua fight. It wasn't his night tonight but I thought he did a decent job of salvaging respectability from the fight (including his top 10 ranking) by nearly pulling off a miracle victory at the end. He took a big chance by trying to jump the queue coming in off a loss & he couldn't quite pull it off against a guy fighting at home & with a decent string of wins behind him. Parker will be back but hopefully they let him get a few confidence builders under this belt before throwing him back in with a live opponent. His next three should be that guy who beat Tua, Alex Leapai & Lucas Browne. Then turn him loose again.
