Wilder will not be Allowed to face any opponent with a pulse, unless they are also a US based fighter, and therefore the belt stays stateside. That rules Parker out folks.
Sounds honestly TGTBT, but this doubleheader (provided, naturally, the winners agree to meet next) would be the closest we could get currently to a solid plan to fix the state of the division.
Agreed. In fact, I'd wager Wilder-Parker and AJ-Klitschko generate more money as separate shows in the US and the UK respectively. Here in the UK, AJ-Klitschko is huge and Wilder-Parker won't add many buys. And would Wilder be willing to be the co-main rather the main event?
This won't happen, neither guy is a draw. Wilder won't offer Parker big money because Parker is unknown in the States and New Zealand can't offer any big purses neither.
But the Joshua/Klitschko fight needs to happen in the UK to maximize profits while the Parker/Wilder fight needs to take place in either the US or New Zealand. The time zones just don't work out. It has to be two separate pay per views. Besides, unless it did May/Pac money it would lose millions by being double billed since all of those guys want 7 figures.
Yes. I think Naki was just saying the Wilder-Parker could happen financially. You're right that the double header isn't going to work, of course.
As great as that would be for us fans the double header won't work financially for all the promoters. wilder v Parker would have to be in the USA. I doubt wilders management would want to put him in with Parker anyway unless they really had to, especially 1st fight back after an injury lay off.
Thing is this: How much more money will Wilder and Parker make by fighting eachother compared to fighting a top 30-50 guy? I think the added purse is more like 20% for each man. Not enough to warrant the risk. If they both were big draws they could both make 100-200% more. That'd be more attractive.
Parker gets knocked out. You can't beat Wilder off the backfoot. And since when do top rankers fight haymon rankers? This is nonsense talk.
True. But there is still a case for taking the fight. The potential reward is actually quite big for either guy as they become a unified HW champion, commanding a far bigger share of the purse against Joshua. If Wilder does not take it, he might regret it if Joshua beats Parker for the WBO and then holds most of the cards for the eventual unification. If Parker does not take it and loses to Hughie (he's actually the underdog with the bookies!!), he loses his title without getting much money as Hughie is not a big draw. Still, I expect you'll end up being right and they'll fight others somehow.
