well tonight proves it. Even though the stoppage was somewhat premature, its clear that being 260 lbs has not turned Joe into a David Tua like puncher.

He has instead slowed down in terms of foot speed. What a mistake. Trading foot speed for virtually no additional power and worse stamina.

He chinned a 1 day notice Bakole, shot to pieces Wilder and struggled with Zhang where Agit didn't. rep built on rainbows and daises, AJ rematch it should have been.

Regardless of what role it played it has almost always been a bad idea for everyone. It boggles my mind, honestly.

They do it so they can pig out. It’s just pure cope on their part.

Very few fighters actually gain functional strength as they tip the scales or do it in a smart way. This era has been notorious for guys simply not wanting to be in decent shape and keep the calories down.

Parker's strong suit was his ring IQ, mobility, and sharp reflexes. The last two, we saw flashes of them in the Wardley fight as he was able to catch him with some good counters and control ring center on many occasions. But he got tagged way too much, even more than when he was younger, and his lateral movement was almost non existent. The intangibles are supposed to steadily improve as you get older, not go down. I guess Parker really felt he was a big man puncher all of a sudden and started sinking his xp into that.

    I have to agree.

Just like the Joyce fight in so many ways

Parker is a natural boxer, but he wants to be a puncher very badly

Bulks up then pays for it

He has zero discipline, it's very obvious.
At least Fury can get the weight off mostly if he really needs to.

Imagine if Usyk bulked up to 240 lbs. He would have lost to Fury and Joshua if he did so.

And Fury struggled with a boxing novice that AJ chinned in two rounds. What's your point?

People were saying that when Usyk weighed in at 224lbs tbh. He'd probably still find a way to win

Parker at his age now is best at about 245. At 255 against Joyce the lack of mobility was evident. They originally used the Zhang rematch (did not materialize) as the excuse to bulk up again, which didn't really make sense. Then turned up for Dubois (Bakole substituting) at 267, which was ridiculous. Obviously the untraned Bakole was blasted out early, so the 267 was spun to be part of the "new" super-powerful Parker. Bulking up never helps. It's fine for heavyweights to bulk up gradually over the course of their careers. But not going up from 247 to 267 from one fight to the next.

Remember its not always to add to your own power, its also a way to absorb heavier shots. He went down twice against Zhang and since then hes added a extra 20 pounds, maybe he thought he needed it to be able to absorb better considering his last 2 scheduled bouts now have been against heavy hitters.

You are way off the mark here. Parker´s weight gain is not because he decided to get fat, its because a few years back he took on a new strength and conditioning coach to work with him. And now they have been talking about putting on extra weight, which they have done through building muscle.

Clear as day that this weigh gain is not due to laziness.

It’s painfully simple to be honest,Team Parker never learned from the Joyce fight !!

problem is that he ended up taking a lot more shots than he would have if he was 20 lbs lighter. He slowed down as the fight progressed which made him a punching bag.
