    Why would anyone do this???

    What are you thinking???

You are not invulnerable. You might feel those falls and/or mishaps for life.

    Do not do Parkour.

If you see someone you care about participating in this, slap them.

It's a sport like any others, obviously you're going to get hurt if you don't know your limits, but it's fun & push you to the extreme.

Sport or a leisure activity? (though a physically demanding one)

Show offs, like skateboarders. Bit nauseating, but mad skills nonetheless.

Everything's dangerous to a degree. Getting punched repeatedly isn't dangerous?

It looks fun, if you enjoy it do it. Boxing is also idiotic.

Parkour is pretty cool... Nothing to do with boxing though.

District B-13 is a good French film that combines Parkour with martial arts action... If you really think about it nearly all of Chans movies make use of Parkour, although not nearly as blatantly as district b-13.

There needs to be another name for it, because the concept of using one's environment to move around in an unconventional manner using ingenuity and natural agility would have existed whether the "Parkour" guys ever "invented" Parkour or not. It would be like someone taking off their clothes in the rain and rubbing themselves with leaves to wipe away detritus, and calling it "precipitation exfoliating" and pretending they invented the broad concept of washing yourself. No, that's called bathing. You didn't invent ****.

All those Jackie Chan movies included all that "spur of the moment, resourceful use of your immediate environment" choreography like two decades before the word Parkour was made up...some of those French guys probably weren't even born yet.

I got in an argument with my ex over this once. I was talking about climbing fire escapes and hopping short roof gaps like a real-life Spiderman when I was a kid and she goes "oh are you claiming you invented Parkour now? Like you did it before it was cool. Such a hipster..."

Like I don't know if she was just being a ***** intentionally. Wanted to rip her face off though.

Yeah of course. And sure those guys can be a bit pompous, but I see no problem with them having their own "acrobatic school" just as long as they're humble and don't claim full credit. Like anything else I'm sure you get your fair share of arrogant ****s who practice Parkour, then you get guys who are well aware that what they're doing is nothing new.

WRONG. Done correctly boxing on a recreational level can be 99.9999% safe.
Parkour on any level is downright suicidal :nut
