Anybody ever recovered from this without surgery ? I have recently being injured and saw a doc, said it was a tendon tear but it isn't major. However he said it will never be back to its original state, and Im really worried. He said that I also could not compete at Olympics or pro. of course im not aiming that high , but what Im worrying about is that what he means is that I'll only ever compete at recreational level? Boxing is a tough sport that really puts a lot of stress on the body. I don't know how to take this. Hopefully there is someone else on here that has experienced this before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yup. Your screwed. You tore it. Nothing "partial" about it. If that's what you doc said. Why? I'm recovering right now from a tear (distal-near the elbow) from sparring- missing a long left hook. I had surgery. Rehab is 12 weeks, and that's with aggressive physical therapy twice a week rehabbing me like an athlete. I was in a sling only for two weeks thankfully. But it's been 3 weeks, I've got 90% range of motion, but the numbness in nerves are still ****ed up- they got inflamed during surgery. Get surgery if you ever want full strength. If not, you can expect to have about 70% strength with a increased likely of reinjury. Sorry to disappoint. If you don't have medical insurance, I understand. I do know another guy in our gym who had the same injury, did not have surgery, and told me he only noticed a "slight difference" in strength and performance in his injured arm.
It's best to question the guy that examined your injury or see another professional, not ask the opinion of a bunch of random names on an Internet forum.
Oh, and "tendon tear" and "not major" don't make sense. Did you just have a routine examination? Because they need to have an MRI done to assess the injury. Did you have an MRI?? Go see a real doc (an ortho) so you can have a reading done so they can asses the injury properly, don't go to a walk-in clinic.
Before you try surgery, you should try something less invasive like Platelet Rich Plasma injections. The reason why tendon's have trouble healing is because of the lack of blood flow, but with PRP injections, the idea is that blood is injected directly into the tendon in order to promote healing. Supposedly, it hurts like hell, but a lot of people attest to it working wonders. Tendons do heal. Your doctor is wrong. It's just that they take a long time to heal, so if you don't get PRP injections and you don't want surgery, you have to do light stretching and some exercises to promote blood flow in the tendon without re-injuring it. Eventually, you can do more dramatic stretching and strengthening exercises, with the idea being creating blood flow, but also simultaneously strengthening the tendon and adding flexibility, so that it will be more resistant to injury, thus improving the healing process. If you're young, I would stay away from surgery. Try to rehab it. I know surgery has come a long way, and I believe they have sutures that dissolve, but there is also the possibility of them not giving a **** and just ****ing your **** up because at the end of the day, all they care about is their bank account.
Lol. Yeah, and heavy preacher curls are known to rebuild tendon tissue. I think I read forced reps, 10 sets of 1-3 reps to extreme failure.... Was that right?? OP: see a specialist. Get an MRI. Lol
Who said preacher curls, lil ***** boy? A real man does one arm pull ups. Not some ***** boy ****. *****.
See, this is what's wrong with this forum. You got rich boy know it all like LongJab (short dick) and (Aids) Virus from getting butt****ed by a dude, telling you to get an MRI, when an Ultrasound is not only cheaper, but proven to be more accurate to locate tendon tears. Also, they are automatically telling you to get surgery because that's what they've been programmed to say. Surgery should always be the last resort. Your body is remarkable at healing itself, especially when you're young. Try rehabbing your bicep, which admittedly, may take a very long time and will prevent you from boxing, but it eliminates the risk of someone cutting into your body and doing irreparable damage. If you must get surgery, at least consider Plasma Rich Therapy Injections. Typically, an ultrasound is used to find the injury, which is FAR less expensive than an MRI, and then your blood is removed from your body, and then put in a centrifuge to separate the plasma, and injected directly into the tendon. The way muscles and tendons heal is through blood flow. This method helps expedite the healing process. You don't have to rush right into surgery. I know people today have infantile urges that must be satisfied immediately, but I implore you to have some patience and consider alternatives to surgery.
What is it with you and homo***ual fantasies? :blood I didn't say go and get surgery, MRI or ultrasound, what I said was - You see, he may need surgery or an MRI, that's what the professional would advise on, hence the reason I advised to seek professional advice. You trying to sound clever posting about random treatments you've read up on the Internet could get someone ****ed up, you don't know the extent of the OP's injury. PS. You truly are ******ed.
Wow, you really are a narcissist. You said, I'm trying to sound clever as if I just recently googled PRP therapy. That might be a tactic you use because you lack any ingrained knowledge, but I don't waste my time with that. That's what gets people injured. You probably use WIKI a lot too, don't you? Your attitude is eventually going to get someone hurt because you believe you know everything and there is nothing new anyone can tell you. I'm surprised you weren't familiar with PRP therapy considering you're supposed to be an expert on everything that has to do with the human body. Apparently, you're out of your league. So, why don't you go educate yourself, so your parents didn't waste all their money on your college tuition.
HAHAHA!! Narcissist? I know you're attempting to troll me, but saying I'm a narcissist because I said seek professional advice makes you look ****ing dumb. Here's some advice - if you're going to use these long words, look up the definition before you place them in a sentence. Most likely you did. And? I don't have knowledge on that particular injury, hence the reason I advised to seek professional advice. I really don't see how that could get someone injured...? I've used WIKI maybe 3 times in my entire life... This makes no sense whatsoever. I'm going to get someone hurt by advising they seek professional advice? atsch I've never claimed this. Out of what league? Overall your trolling is a fail. You just made yourself look like a fool.
You're a narcissist because you can't believe anyone could possibly know something you didn't. Didn't they teach you critical thinking skills at the college your parents paid for? I told the kid to consider his alternatives, yet you felt the need to attack me. You're lack of knowledge about PRP was implied when you said, "injected directly into the eyes," as if you were mocking my statements about the procedure. Again, that's is another characteristic of narcissism. You really need to get it together, Virus. People would respect you more if you were willing to compromise and consider that you might possibly not know everything. That's a bad trait. That's why you can't get any p ussy.
