Two types of punching power has been described. Those with sharp snapping type and those with heavy thudding type. So are there fighters who can absorb one type of power over another?

I remember how Duran was able to absorb big punches from Barkley while crumbled by snapping punches of Hearns.

This is the part where the fake ass chin checkers who have never had a fight in their life wouldn't understand. This is a very good topic because i used to think that you either have a chin or you don't. But ive seen greats ko'd by other greats and take punches from other greats.

It depends on where you get hit too, your will, the shape you're in etc etc. If Zak or Rico make it here, disregard anything that they have to say. Neither had a ****en amateur career or a gym that they've visited in their punk ass lives lol...

No if you have a glass jaw like Wilder it doesn't matter if you're getting tagged by sharp Nichols check jab or thudding right from Harold Sconiers.
    You're still going down.

I'm not sure the laws of physics accommodate different kinds of power. Power is power, whichever way it is delivered, snappy or thudding. As said above, the preparedness of the boxer being punched has an influence on the impact of the blow.

Cus D'Amato also theorised that it wasn't the impact of the blow alone which causes a fighter to be knocked out. He reasoned a number of blows to different parts of the body in a short space of time would cause the brain to shut down through sensory overload with the neurons rendered incapable of processing a number of electrical impulses being sent to the brain at the same time. No idea if this is right, but an interesting aside.

Wlad has lasted through time after suffering 3 tko's. Joshua was shook by Whyte, Frampton has been down and back up, Crawford has been rocked, Pac has lasted through time like Wlad, Cotto's chin has stood the test of time, Chocolatito takes everyones best, Ward has been put down twice and gotten up to win, Froch was dropped and wobbled and gottten up to win and then ko the guy in the rematch, Stevenson was ko'd and then ko'd the guy who ko'd him.

There are so many cases and different scenarios where your chin is tested. But that's what pro fighters signed up for. They don't care if they get ko'd. Just keep fighting.

There is a such thing as punch resistance, but what typically defines a "glass jaw" is really more poor defense and awareness of getting hit.

Factors like where you get hit matter as well, but the big thing is being able to see and ready yourself to take a punch. If you can see it coming, you can tense your muscles to absorb the punch, roll with it and keep your neck from twisting. When you don't see it, you can't adjust your muscles and usually end up absorbing the impact in a much more chaotic way, basically then shaking your brain unprepared.

Guys who were known as iron chins typically were guys who got hit a lot, but they saw all the punches and were ready for them all. Guys who are known as glass chins, typically are so poor at defense that they aren't ready for return shots so that are basically getting sucker punched all the time.

The stupid chincheckers here like Rico and muppet headed dude (or is that still rico?) will never admit that glass chins are just as much a case of bad defense as bad punch resistance.

One is produced by less mass but more velocity and one is less velocity but more mass. Obviously the one with less mass but more velocity is more likely to be the one you don't see coming or the one you don't expect.

That is true, but the hook Duran took in his match with Barkley have both mass and velocity. It got him turned over. Still don't know how he stay upright.
