Tarver's only relevant win in the past three years or so is against Clinton Woods, who now has retired after losing to Tarvoris Cloud. Johnson's just Johnson and hadn't don much at LHW, bar losing to Dawson.

Hopkins... well, his last significant fight at LHW was at a catchweight against a guy who is a career MW - so not really a legitamate LHW fight. He fought Ornelas last, a guy who hasn't done much of anything ever. Before then he lost to Calzaghe at LHW, and other than that was another BIG win over a blown up LMW in Winky Wright at a catchweight, who looked dreadful at 170. Before that was the Tarver victory, and Tarver's looked crap ever since.

It's actually very hard justifying his top five position. Pascal's at least fought genuine 175lb-ers

If you're ranking people just on the basis that they've beaten a couple of 'genuine 175lb-ers' then your top five would have a lot of people in. Why Pascal and not Cloud, or Mack? Who actually is your top five?

I would rather have seen Dawson-Cloud or Dawson-Hopkins really. Still, this is a good fight.

So Dawson's going to continue fighting only 1-2 times a year? That makes it hard to build any monentum behind him. He might as well start moving up to heavy weight.

This fight would be ****ing epic!! 2 of lhw's brightest young stars putting it all on the line....

Im not a fan of dawson - His career is being managed saftey first, just the same way he fights... He hasnt had a tough fight since johnson 1, and he dosent take any ****ing chances in the ring or his career. Glad to see hes finally grown a pair :good His level of talent can take him really far

Im a big fan of pascal - This guy is the ****ing man. He fought froch (a ****ing slugger) toe to toe man. Direll should watch some videos man  Pascal is a rare talent (can box and slug). He beat a very underrated diacanou too !!

I know ill be rooting for pascal, the read deal !!!

You're missing my point - I'm mostly responding to the "who's he beat" argument against Pascal. The reality is he beat a reigning titlist, beat his mandatory and then comprehensively beat the former titlist in a rematch. Hopkins last genuine fight against a world-level opponent at 175 was... Joe Calzaghe. Who he lost to.

Hopkins of course is a top five fighter based on his ability, but he's not looking for a fight with Dawson, so who gives a ****. Pascal is top three by my reckoning based on ability and recent achievement.

    I'd go:

    Dawson
    Hopkins
    Pascal
    Johnson
    Tarver

Normally, Pascal would be ready to fight for June. But it's a bit much asking him to return against the man at 175. I think that Dawson and HBO won't see a problem with the possibility of Pascal making an easy defense just to get back and after, around september, a big fight in Montreal for the WBC belt and maybe the IBF, if Dawson can fight Tavoris Cloud while waiting for Pascal to come back.

I agree, he wasnt dehydrated. He just had too much pride (decided to stand and trade instead of box)

If it makes you feel better I'll pick Dawson in a lopsided contest. If it helps I'll even call Froch's win over Pascal meaningless since Pascal was a weight drained LHW. I still prefer to call that fight "Tilting at Windmills". :yep

I hope Pascal is fully recovered for this, should be a good fight if so.
