Pascal does not deserve a rematch. he was in serious trouble and taking heavy shots several times. this is damage. he never had Kovalev hurt or in trouble. yes, he caught Kovalev, that happens. doesn't mean he deserves a rematch. He can get back in line and fight his way back. once upon a time a rematch meant it was so close as to be virtually uncertain who won. now it seems to mean, "I just lost and I want another shot." Get back in line.

No decent human being wants to see a rematch. It'd be like Creed Vs Drago.

I am still amazed how so may people are clamoring for a rematch. Even if I had a rapidly metastasizing brain tumor and agreed, you all must know that it will not be immediate. Kathy Duva has already said they will be facing Muhammedei, the IBF mandatory next.

Pascal was one lucky dude: the ropes and the bell saved him from the knockout in round 3, the lucky slip by Kovalev in round 8 just after he unloaded on Pascal's face with monster punches-had he not slipped Pascal
likely would have been knocked out with the next monster shot.
    Please no rematch necessary

Nobody's clamoring. You look around the 175lb landscape, and there just isn't much else. Kovalev has already smashed most everyone that's better h2h than Pascal, and everyone that's higher rated (except obviously Stevenson, the 'man', whom either of them would knock out).

It was an entertaining fight so it's not really that surprising to me.

I hope Muhammedei does not land more than a few dozen punches against Kovalev or he may have to get a rematch also.

Alright then, "made to back up" - how often does that happen to Kovalev. ;)

...and I agree the Caparello KD was chintzy, that was the point I was making. That is the only recent fight someone point to as Kovalev having "trouble" more than he did with Pascal, and you're right, it was more of a trip - and outside that moment Caparello had virtually no success. (let alone several minutes' worth like Pascal)

I see no harm in Pascal II being on his resume, nor do I think any of the names you mentioned do more for him, necessarily.

No, just no. Kovalev already he is league above Pascal.

Kovalev should do the Montreal LHW tour:

    Pascal, Stevenson, Alvarez, Beterbiev.

Nah...nothing more to see here. Kovalev is on that next level. Pascal gave a valiant effort. But, it's (past) time for Kovalev vs Stevenson...for LHW supremacy.

Pascal's resume includes Froch, Diaconu x2, Dawson, Hopkins x2, Bute and Kovalev. And twice he's had to fight through a dislocated shoulder against a dangerous opponent. What he deserves is to retire and raise his daughter with his health intact and his reputation as a warrior well established.
