At the weigh in today, Pascal was at 181,4 while the original agreeing was at 180. People seemed nervous, Pascal waited half an hour and came back later : 181,4. He met the press and said: "I made weight, I respected the contract" Then one reporter asked: "Wait a minute, wasn't the agreement at 180." Pascal answer was then: "Yes, it was, but the actual contract that we've just chande is now at 182, so I made the weight, didn't I?". Apparently, the Kuziemski clan accepted 5,000$ for the change. I don't know how GYM pulled that off since in the original contract, it was apparently supposed to be 20% of the Pascal pures if he didn't make the weight. His purse was apparently 250,000, so 50,000$ should have went to Kuziemski. This is though only rumour. http://tvasports.ca/tvasports/combats/archives/2012/12/20121213-125152.html
Pascal could have lost the extra pound (he climbed the scale with some clothes and jewels on so was not really at 181,4) but didn't want to so Kuziemski had the choice between 5000$ or force Pascal to lose weight. It seems that Yvon Michel has learned the good old cheap shots. We were supposed to see a 2.0 version of Pascal. I don't know what to think about that. Anyway, he should win easily.
It is not a rumor, I read yesterday that Kuziemski accepted in exchange for more fights in Montreal after that, like against Alvarez.
The fight needed to get done, Pascal has mad pull there too... He was very close to weight, and that's why they did a quick off the record hustler type deal, and it worked.
What a ****ing dick, seriously nothing more unprofessional than not making weight for **** sakes. Prime example of one of the many reasons Pascal will never be elite in this sport. He should have been forced to lose it, or undress to see if he made it...**** or pay his opponent, the 20% agreed, **** him, I wanted to see him back in action but now, "I'll pass."
why is this fought at 180 anyway? Will pascal now fight at CW? This seems like dany green weightclass 180
Has he ever had weight trouble before? I can't remember any. I didn't think he was even big for 175. I hope he's not planning on moving up with a higher level of opponent.
