I like Braehmer too. For whatever reason he's never really fought outside of Germany and on a couple of occasions (Cleverly and Shumenov) has inexplicably dropped out of significant title bouts but has a long and not insignificant list of wins.

His level of consistency alone tells you he's no slouch and I favour him over most in the division - real skills and he can hurt guys when he looks for it. I know Boxrec ain't the best for ranking guys but their #4 mark is enough to say he continues to do good work and ain't anybodies walkover.

However. What interests me a little more is the recent Golovkin - Rubio situation.

Now, the WBC granted GGG mando status based on his win over Rubio - what does anyone think of them granting mando status (in similar fashion) if Kovalev beats their current LHW interim champ Pascal? The ABCs have been talking about getting these titles unified, and now the perfect opportunity has dropped right into their collective laps.

To me, this looks pretty much perfect all round - two top class and real money spinning fights (at least one in Canada) however things play out, and the boxing world gets an undisputed LHW champ. the networks get their $s - the only possible problem is if Stevenson were to vacate, but I can't see that happening with him being 37 / 38 - if he loses the strap and lineal his fledging star status is gone, almost certainly forever, and with it the big $s.

So. Please - WBC step up to the plate! If you can do it at 160, why not at 175?

Hmmm......I think that would be a earth-shaking move. I would love it. I've come to think of the alphabet orgs as the bane of boxing, but they might just end up being part of the solution.

As for Braehmer, I just find his career(and all guys like that)curious.

Brähmer did too...just, spaced kind of far apart.

He fought Mario Veit twice (lost a majority decision in which he dropped Veit, then knocked him out in the rematch), stepped up to Hugo Garay in a very competitive WBA title challenge, swiped the zeroes of Sukhotsky and Kuziemski back to back, stopped the incredible run of Eduard Gutknecht (Cherviak, McIntosh, Giacomo, Uzelkov, Averlant) in an extremely close tilt which could've been a draw or gone either way and was probably the German FOTY ahead of Stieglitz vs. Abraham II or III, and then schooled unbeaten and hyped ranked prospect-contender Oliveira.

Granted, nothing on there comes near John having mixed it up with Marquez, Gainer, and Juarez x2 - or Narvaez with his longevity and consistency (although in terms of best names in his native flyweight, if you exclude moving up to stink out the joint with Donaire, you're looking at Tamara, Sarritzu, Lazarte, Seda, and Orucuta x2 - hardly standing head and shoulders above Brähmer in quality...) - but he did take on top notch competition here and there.
