At least he's fought his way to Boss Status.

while clowns like Canelo are fed with silver spoons.

strange.....GGG would absolutely kill glass jawed Stevenson who poses no risk at all to him.

Pascal makes sense, he can't make 168 and hasn't fought in forever.

As i say, i'm a huge fan of Ward and his wins over Kessler and Froch have catapulted him into the P4P top 5 on merit. This bringing 175lbs fighters down though is wrong, just plain wrong.

Canelo's 'reign' has been poor so far, don't even get me started on him.

    Also this french site (RDS.CA)

"Par ailleurs, Michel a révélé que Golovkin avait refusé un combat contre Adonis Stevenson chez les super-moyens et que Pascal avait quant à lui décliné un duel face à Andre Ward, également chez les 168 livres.

Funny how people take "stories" like these at face value.

I'd like to see the report where Ward offered to fight Pascal at 168.

Ward has consistently said(not always to anyone in particular) that he cannot/will not move down in weight, and that he is not yet ready to move up.

I suspect there is a little embellishing going on here, and playing with words.

It's coming from Yvon Michel. (GYM's boss).

There are many offers we are not aware of.

Neither refusals should be considered as "ducking" by the way...

Pascal's promotional company never confirmed the weight at which they were offered to fight Ward, but they did make it sound like it was at 168. The weight remains to be confirmed, not the offer...

EDIT : It's official..I can't read... The weight was specified to be at 168lbs against Ward

    Thanks Cloudman,

    here is the google translation:
"MONTREAL - Instead of snow and slush, Jean Pascal could make his return to the ring under the sun and palm trees of the Principality of Monaco. Until another two weeks, everything was in place for Pascal confronts the Polish Aleksy Kuziemsky sub-map of a championship bout between world Gennady Golovkin and Osumanu Adama. The Englishman James DeGale would also beaten in the semifinals. Golovkin But, the title holder of the WBA middleweight, has finally decided to compete against Thomas Oosthuizen on 19 January in New York, which aborts the Project. "Since we were not able to provide a championship fight to the organizers of the event, we opted for a return to Montreal in December," said promoter Yvon Michel on Monday. "Kevin Bizier was also supposed to be on the card and it would have crossed swords with Jo Jo Dan. " Michel said, however, that it was only postponed because the organizers want Golovkin defended his belt in Monaco, as was once the former champion Carlos Monzon unified means.

Thus, it is not impossible that one or some of the boxers under contract with Michel have the chance to box in the principality in the month of April. Moreover, Michel revealed that Golovkin had refused a fight against Adonis Stevenson at super middleweight and Pascal had meanwhile declined a duel with Andre Ward, also in 168 pounds. "

Golovkin vs Osumanu Adama ?? WHO !? The guy makes Proksa a world celebrity. What a silly idea.

Golovkin vs Stevenson? in Monaco?! What kind of silly **** is this?

Oosthuizen is a bigger risk than Stevenson, IMO. Golovkin's never been down as an amateur or a pro, and if you take away Stevenson's puncher's chance, he's not that special. Furthermore, Stevenson has a mediocre chin. Oosthuizen at least is really long, a southpaw, has a high workrate and can box from the outside (and seems to have a decent enough beard).

I have to believe that GGG said no to Stevenson because they got a better offer from Golden Gloves (Oosthuizen's promotional outfit), who is known to pay pretty good money for fights. Besides, as far as I can tell, GGG has little interest in a permanent move to 168.

Also, GGG (as well as K2) has said over and over again that they'll fight whoever HBO wants him to fight. Perhaps HBO wasn't interested in Stevenson for some reason. My guess is that they wanted GGG to fight Oosthuizen so GGG can get ranked by the WBC and face Ward after the Pavlik fight. It's pretty obvious that HBO is trying to build him up as an opponent for either Ward or Martinez.

EDIT: And if the offer was for a fight against Stevenson in Monaco, then it's pretty obvious why GGG's team would have turned that down. Stevenson seems tailor made for Golovkin, IMO.

Stevenson is a pretty risky fight. Even if Golovkin KO'd him, he'd probably take alot of damage in the process. Is the Oosthuizen fight signed? I didn't think he could make 165 and that Edwin Rodriguez was the more likely opponent. Tommy needs to come out unscathed against Zuniga in a few weeks on top of that.

Why should Pascal weight drain like Dawson to fight Ward in his home towm? If Ward wants greatness he needs to earn it and fight guys on even terms.
