I'm pretty sure this is the last big boxing event of the year. It's a match that actually really interests me as I'm a huge Pascal fan and I actually hate Hopkins with a passion. Anyone know if Sky/Premier sports/Primetime will be picking this up? It's actually not that long away now (I think the 30 day weigh in was yesterday). Tricky if your reading, this might be a good way to end the year. I don't have high hopes for sky as it's the same month as the monster 'gr8 Britain vs the world' bill, but premier sports can still save us.
dot get ur hopes up premier are doing a great with the funds they have imo. hopefully once virgin customers can get they get more subscribers which means more fights :happy
Hope this gets screened on some channel over here. This and Huck v Lebedev are two great fights at the end of the year on December the 18th. At least one of these cards needs to get picked up by British TV.
premier have promised 1 big fight a month and have always delivered. this is the biggest available fight in december.
Hopkins is always a back as an underdog. Pascal is terrible compared to Bernard. The fight is about how much Bernard has left. Chad Dawson V the winner!
:think how the hell d'you work that out? Hopkins is in no way the favourite in this fight. If you think he is, get down the bookies quick.
Odds have been up for months. http://www.oddschecker.com/boxing/jean-pascal-v-bernard-hopkins/winner
Bernard has pulled it out many times before but he really did look old in the RJJ fight. Pascal is good, very under-rated IMO. I think Pascal out works Bernard convincingly.
Couple of years ago this would've been an easy pick in Hopkins favor, but Hopkins can't fight 12 rounds anymore IMO. He's gonna rely on cutting Pascal's activity and countering mistakes. Can't see him getting a decision in a close one, so he's probabily gonna need a knockout and when was the last time he knocked someone out? He's to crafty to get beat up and that alone is bound to make it competitive and relatively close, plus Hopkins has the style advantage which is one of the reasons he's taking this fight. It's a case of Hopkins knowing how to beat Pascal, but not having the physical tools to do it IMO. A technician like Bernard should never be counted out though, but it's hard to make a case for him here, especially based on what we've seen from both men lately. Pascal seems like a smart guy to me, who has fully matured and at his peak and will take a decision. We shall see.
