I don't know why people say he has a granite chin. He's been hurt at 175 by fighters who aren't known for punching before. B-hop seemed to hurt him in their second fight (if i remember correctly) and featherfisted Dawson definitely had him hurt a couple of times he has a good chin, but it definitely isn't granite :yep
JMM is known for having a great chin and look how many times he has been hurt and dropped in his career.
You can say he has above average chin just by looking at his upper body. He's like a warrior toy for children. The last guy I recall having the same features was Holyfield, although he was a heavy roid abuser so probably p4p Pascal is sturdier. And more importantly his amazing quote on the weigh-in proves he has a good chin. "You put da hat on mah face"
JMM doesn't necessarily have a good chin, it's just his recovery is sensational. Rigondeaux is similar...gets knocked down easily but is never in danger of anything more because of great recovery.
I agree. Rigo cannot take a punch as well as JMM. But their recovery ability is on par in my opinion.
Both guys while not known as huge punchers, are good technical boxers, and capable of placing punches right on the button, which is known to have the wobbling effect on even the studiest of chins. Hopkins hasn't scored a knockout in years, but he usually buckles every opponent he has faced. I recall ESPN FNF trying to build up a rivalry between Pascal, and Edison Miranda way back when Miranda back at 160/168. I recall Pascal, being wobbled and hurt bad by the bum he was fighting that night, before pulling it out.
