Just want to know if anyone else was surprised to see Jean Pascal hold up to the best that Froch had to offer after being hurt a couple times by Pittman in his previous fight. This is one of 2008's most baffling occurrences IMO as I was convinced that Froch would stop him. I give Jean a lot of credit for his performance against the Cobra. Damn good fight.

For the first half of the fight Pascal was trying to pretend that he is Roy Jones. When that didn't work he just did a lot of wild swinging. Froch isn't a difficult style to solve inasmuch as he comes straight at you with his hands down. If Pascal can't figure out how to fight Froch, he may as well hang up his gloves.

I thought it was a great fight and both took and dished out a lot of punishment. Pascal may be one to watch for the future.

i hope we see pascal again soon. he's still very young and should be able to work himself back into title contention in a few years.

I didn't think pascal looked very good personally. He didn't seem very sharp, had pretty poor footwork and looked fairly uncoordinated

Completely agree...I did not expect him to stand there and take shots from Froch like that...I either thought Carl would knock him out or hurt him at some point sending him into an ultra defensive mode.

If you were the watch his past performances you would be almost sure this was going to be the case.

A much better fight then what I thought it would be...Swayed my opinion on Pascal's durability, my opinion of Froch has lifted ever so slightly but this fight also confirmed, for me, that these two are fairly average in the scheme of things. Dont want to take away from their performances though, they put on an excellent scrap.

agree i dont think he looked that good, the boxing skill he had shown in other fights was gone, it was like he got sucked into fighting frochs fight

i suppose thats easy to do when you fight someone like froch, hes just so easy to hit it makes you think, i'll just keep loading up, i know im gonna land and hes gotta drop soon, your skill goes out the window and u get sucked into a brawl with someone u shouldnt be

but i was impressed with pascal;s suspect chin, he got hit flush a fair few times and was never fazed, but that could have more to do with frochs power, being over-rated than anything else

Great scrap. Very Untidy considering the caliber of the fighter's but was fun anyway.

Was very impressed by Pascals punch resistance considering his prior in this department but i do think he shot himself in the foot by allowing himself to be drawn into Froch's fight.

Yeah definately, I'd say his power is overated. In his previous fight he landed shot after shot on his opponent (who was a last minute substitute and seemed to have no defence) an didn't seem to bother him. The ref eventually stopped it in the later rounds but the guy could of gone on no problem. It seemed like it was stopped because the guy wasn't interested in protecting himself.

I suppose most of you people don't watch Quebec television. Pascal likes to compare himself to Roy Jones. If you watch carefully you will see him imitate many of Jones's movements and mannerisms. But that is all it is, imitation. The real Roy Jones, when he was Pascal's age, would have had Froch figured out the first round. From there it would have been nothing more than a turkey shoot. That is all Froch is, a turkey. This will soon become apparent to all you people who know nothing about style. Pascal couldn't get the job done, but I tell you Calzaghe, Kessler, Abraham or any of the other top boxers can.

Pascal's chin was impressive, but that's about it. With his hand speed and reflexes, he should've easily been able to decision Froch, but he had zero game plan going into the fight and couldn't even scrap one together along the way despite Froch's glaring flaws.

Pascal's chin isnt great, Froch is just an overrated puncher.
