Benn said he didn't spar much, since he didn't want to wear himself out.

LaMotta, on the other hand, did nothing but spar in training, from what I've heard. Same with Toney.

Frazier went to town on his sparring partners. Futch wouldn't let a very green Lyle spar him, because Lyle would get hurt.

Ali on the other hand, was more likely to let sparring partners go to town on him. Might be a reason to the extensive kidney damage he suffered late on in his career.

Any other champions with interesting sparring habits?

Chavez didn't do much in the gym besides sparring.
    Dempsey was same as Frazier.
We all know Kronk gym was always a war as was the Phila gyms. Willie Monroe avoided the sparring wars at all costs he told me.
Now I also heard that was a big reason why Meldrick Taylor is the way he is now.
I also remember reading Terry Norris did tons of sparring or should I say fighting in the gym.

Don't see the sense with gym wars. Of course, you have to have some intense sparring to get ready for a fight, but not all the time.
