Michael Spinks!!!!! I won't favor over the rock, but in a 3 fight, i think with his outside boxing skills, reach advantage, and the spink jinx, he might be able to cut him to pieces before Marciano find a way to win the fight. Rocky wins The other 2 matches, where he finally manage to roar inside Spinks and beat the crap out of him after getting badly outboxed early. People just forgot how great spinks was.
Eubank fought a couple of fights at cruiserweight. That would have been a good fight to watch. Eubank had the skills to do well but not the size and strength though. I would have enjoyed seeing Marciano bust him up. Ha.
Tunney, Loughran ,Conn all can beat him they have that punch and clutch style, Ezzard while skilled has no shot cuz he would mix it up on the inside and thats bad news, you are better off jabbing and holding til the ref breaks it up. Tommy Gibbons I can see beating Rocky (peak Gibbons we are talking here)
But doesn't that prove how much of a reputation the man has? It's like he was never beat in real life so is their anyone good enough else where. I meant no disrespect to Rock by doing this thread, ton of respect for him.
Probably the only one I'd favour is Langford, the rest would have a chance but I wouldn't call them favorites. Most people mentioned durable, skilled boxers so I'll to different direction and mention Bob Fitzsimmons. It would be very short and agressive fight, Fitzsimmons didn't have ATG chin but it was very solid and his defense is underrated. Besides, Fitz picked apart pressure fighters quickly, so it'd be interesting to see how he'd deal with someone as good as Marciano. Size difference isn't massive either, Fitzsimmons is taller and rangier, 20 lbs disadvantage is nothing for him.
What makes all 1980s fighters better? Are they superior human species? Did they find a magical way to improve their boxing skills signififcantly? What did Ruiz do that was too much for Marciano and his competition?
Marciano ****ing crossed his feet man, he'd get beat by pretty much any good HW from the 80s. Tucker, Smith, Witherspoon, Weaver, Thomas, Douglas, Tubbs - they all beat him. Not to mention Holmes, who boxes his ears off and Tyson, who obliterates him in round 1.
Wow lmao. Maybe slow your role and give the guy a little bit of respect. The greatest HW ever wasn’t sure if he could beat him and he knew him personally.
Is that why guys like Foreman and Holmes fought until mid forties beating contenders? 80s was probably the worst decade for HW boxing ever besides pre 30s guys.
Holmes is an 80s guy. And Foreman did not beat top dogs in the 80s. Plus Holmes and Foreman are vastly superior to Marciano
But his competition didn't, so what's your point? 1950s boxers didn't cross his feet, so it's not an example of progression. Could you please answer to my question? I don't care about your hypothetical matchups between Marciano and 1980s HWs. We're talking here about Marciano vs LHWs.
