That is likely the case, or very close to the periods you mention at least.

The problem for me is I see it very differently to you as far as how Calzaghe made Hopkins fight. You take the view he was simply reactive to his own body, I'm more of the opinion he was reactive to what Joe Calzaghe was presenting, as far as his punch output. My reasoning being Hopkins before and after the fight threw as many as he ever did, yet somehow he hit a black hole against Calzaghe. That is a little bit too convenient for me, its more about the styles of these two men at any point.

He could well of done that bit more in his prime, but ultimately its still a close fight that could go either way I think.

I've come across a few who acknowledge Jones and Hopkins both beat Calzaghe in their prime. Specially Jones.

I started typing a reply, then stopped. We have done this old dance too many times amigo! Your opinion is respected, I look forward to conversing with you on a fresher topic somewhere else soon.

If Roy would have jumped on Joe after the kd it could have been over in the first round. Joe even admitted he was hurt but Roy must must of thought he was to good and didn't need to knock Joe out. Probably the biggest mistake of Roy's career while in a ring fighting.

No problem! I was going to pretty much say the same thing myself, but I felt like touching upon the key point we always seem to disagree on one last time. That is basically the crux of the debate.

I definitely don't give Joe a prayer against Jones though, there are not many I would at 168lbs.

im not a fan of Calzaghe, not at all, I hate this slappy mother****er but his style is wrong for Hopkins and would have cause him trouble any years.
