No it doesn't .None of what you listed impacted those guys career. Who are these people who are saying Cazaghe best a prime Roy? The same Calzaghe that decision a shot to **** Roy in 2008? As for Mosley no one talks about his past prime fight. People knew he was strapped for cash after the divorce and fought anyone for a payday. When people mention Mosley its his fight with DLH or how Forest had his number or even his win against Margarito. Hatton's career was already gone after Mayweather Ko and the brutal Pac Ko. He feel flat on his two biggest fight of his career. This is the same Hatton that contemplated suicide after the Pac lost. People think nothing of his lost to Senchenko or Paulie.

These guys lost nothing in giving it one more try or trying to get some extra cash for retirement. Nobody cares they got beat by younger guys or guys they would mop the floor with in their prime.

So if he didn’t have a belt and fought on because he didn’t think he was done(or needed the money, or wanted a title shot at another weight, or another belt), you’re saying he’d have something to lose with a loss? Ans should that loss come by way of a lesser fighter, you think it wouldn’t be used as ammunition against him?

Do you read these boxing boards at all? They absolutely do get slated and those losses are used as ammunition against them. RJJ is a glass jawed fraud. And it’s not because he was only KO’d by Tarver and retired after moving up and down and winning belts at every stop from MW to HW.

Anyway, good talk. Have a good night.

I always get mad because people don't give Berbick the credit due for smashing Ali. Trevor proved he was an ATG that night.

Wish I could like twice. Bout sums it up for me. I would only add that imo once a fighter is past his sell-by date (which can vary by weight class, fighting style and probably some other things I'm missing), you gotta judge it on a case by case, fight by fight basis because a more weathered fighter can look great and come apart from one fight to the next.

    Lol so true

People try to discredit the Calzaghe win over "old Bhop" when "old Bhop" was still fighting for world titles nearly 10 years later

Compared to where he is today the Canelo Alvarez that faced FMJ was naive

Canelo has changed his style for sure, but to say a 43 fight pro is niave is a bit of a stretch. I understand the hate for Mayweather and that haters like to say he never had a good fight, but no way was Canelo green or niave in their fight.

Rightly so, that older fighter, past him prime is basically being used, he is a scalp, he is being paid for some young fighter to smack around and then claim he is the new king because he beat an old and past it king.

So yeah, if an old fighter turns up and gets beat, then it's expected, whybshould I praise a fighter for beating up an old man who is past it?

If the old fighter put a beating on the young fighter, then it's superb and deserves praise.

Maybe younger fighters should fight other fighters on the come up, have meaningful fights instead of padding records and looking for old man scalps.

In the case of Pacquiao, Thurman was elevated to ATG elevating Pac even more in his fans eyes, although Keith's only big win was Porter.

Hopkins was in his prime at 50 years old according to many so maybe his later opponents should get credit.
