There was talk of this fight happening for the 175 Lb. title . Olson had taken a couple of decisions from Wayne Thornton who was at that time a top contender for lightheavyweight honors. Could Bobo have won another title? Another point I would like to throw in is that I thought it was a grave injustice that Harold Johnson never got a rematch with Pastrano. Can't say as I blame Willie for avoiding that one!! I frankly can't see Johnson losing to any lightheavyweight champion until perhaps Bob Foster in the late 1960's. A Johnson-Foster fight would have been interesting. Perhaps Foster wouldn't have had an answer for Harold Johnson either.
Olson was well past his prime then obviously, but Pastrano was starting to slip then as well, as his fight with Terry Downes showed. Downes was an ex-middleweight like Bobo, and he gave Pastrano a real rough time before Willie managed to pull it out with an uncharacteristic KO. Olson's Achilles Heel was punchers, but he could be a pretty could fighter otherwise. It wouldn't shock me to see him pull off the "upset" here, or at the very least run Pastrano close.
