a few fights ago this would have been a mismatch, but pac has really slowed down and i think the writing is on the wall for him. i think he will lose soon, not "lose" like he did in the jmm fight but take a real beating. dont think peterson is the one to do that but they need to be careful because pacs looking more vulnerable each time...

But mate, this "Floyd took a long layoff" excuse is renderred useless when Floyd himself chooses and prefers to do this to give his body the rest he feels is important. He's been dipping in and out of the sport regularly since 2008. Are we to excuse it and allow him tune-ups every time he does this? Especially when he benefits from the breaks?

Now don't get me wrong. I'm not too thrilled about this Peterson matchup, either. With Floyd in jail, I'd prefer Pacquiao to fight Bradley or JMM. But what I don't like, is the hypocrisy of some of the posters here. Peterson and Ortiz have proven to be on the same level. Yet Ortiz was a great choice by Floyd, but Peterson is a cherry pick from Pacquiao :huh? A Pacquiao that's actually a lesser fighter than Floyd, and would be in a far more competitive fight with Peterson/Ortiz level opponents than Floyd would?

ring rust. nothing can substitute for time in the ring (not in the gym, actual fight). It helps him preserve his body but in what way can it possible help him as a boxer in the present?

My post before says that i blame arum not pac!

also who could floyd have fought at 147 who had a belt at the time apart from pac obviously that is better than ortiz?

Pretty sure this is just a rumor.

I think Pac should just forget all hopes of getting May in the ring and focus on 140 (Since he's beaten the top names at 147 and 154 already. Or at least till another top name pops up.). They should do Pac/Bradley and Khan/Peterson, then the winners face each other.

So, not Mayweather (obviously right, I mean, pac cant fight in may)
Not Bradley (who, actually whooped peterson and hasnt lost since, and who has fought at welter)
Not JMM again (I thought they were going to settle unfinished buisness, maybe JMM has to be 40 next time though )

    meh....

In reality, this isnt the worst fight in the world. Peterson just beat Khan in a huge huge win. And in reality probably is indeed the 4th or 5th best fight out there for pac

    but

Im sick of having to settle for the '4th or 5th' best fight out there for fighters.

How many times can pac not fight who he should be fighting until one should start criticizing his choices of opponents?

Mixed emotions for this one. When the time comes, it will be a good fight against a decent opponent... and one that might be tougher then most are expecting (imo). but I cant help but be dissapointed.

Belts aren't important. Floyd doesn't even care about them. He did not pick Ortiz because he just won the WBC strap. To quote Floyd himself: "Belts don't do nothing but collect dust".

do you think he means that? he said that cos he didn't want to pay a sanctioning fee i think

who could he have fought at 147 then? who was belt less? (not like tryna prove you wrong actual question?)

You can look at it both ways. Void Jr. waited long enough to show signs of Pac slipping and it worked. Bottom line is that while Void Jr. was retiring, beating up women and security guards, Pac was fighting the likes of Hatton, Margarito, Clottey, Mosley, DLH, and JMM.

Pac vs Void should have been made two to four years ago.
