Agreed, 2 points taken away for something like pushing in a sport where you punch people in the face is lame, Khan didn't gain any real advantage from it if you compare it to lowblows, elbows or headbutts, he went a bit over the top with it yeah but the ref should of used more common sense.
Khan was complaining to the red every chance he could get anytime Peterson came in close quarters. I don't recall Peterson ever landing any intentional butts. Khan just couldn't deal with Peterson when he got close
He does it until he gets two warnings, then he stops. Hate on Floyd all you want, the man knows what he's doing. Khan didn't, he thought being anointed the next Golden Boy gave him a free pass and found out otherwise.
Let's try not to be overly stupid. I guess since you punch people in the face you should be allowed to kick, maybe rub their face on the rope, maybe body slam them or do a flying tackle? Shoving is against the ****ing rules. So it excessive holding, so is grabbing the back of a fighter's head and pulling it down. Khan was doing all three. So your genius idea is to let everything short of bringing a gun into the ring just slide, since you're trying to punch the other guy in the face anyway?
I never saw him butt. Everytime he got close to where a butt was possible Khan grabbed his head with both gloves then gave an imploring look at the referee to break them up.
I wasn't talking about peterson but in general you can't compare Lowblows, headbutts or elbows to pushing, the ref should be more lenient.
Chill out man; Khan's not Mexican...he just kinda looks like one. Besides, he got what he deserved for continuing to ignore the ref's warnings. If he had an inside game that consisted of more than pulling Peterson's head down or shoving, he wouldn't have lost his titles.
I call not taking a point after giving 3-4 warnings lenient. Giving no warnings for pulling down the head at least 2-4 times per round is lenient. Fact is, Peterson is a very clean boxer and a very nice guy. He never intentionally fouled the whole fight, whereas Khan managed to foul at least 6-8 times per round. I think the Ref was overly lenient in not giving Khan a DQ loss for repeatedly ignoring ring rules. I would have hated to see it happen, but damn, Dirty Khan deserved it.
reffing has become so bad in letting fighters get away with braking rules, pushing, bending bellow wast line, stiff arm, holding and so on, its no surprise we feel cheated when a ref actually calls it as it is.
