Round 5

Mohammedi is ducking to his left and coming up with slapping hooks on the cheek of Bois. The straightforward march of Bois is punctuated by huge chopping left hooks that either miss or land on the vertebrae of Mohammedi as he is slumped over in a constant liquid state. A few clubbing rabbit punches by Bois are mistaken by the crowd as scoring blows. Mohammedi literally shrugs them off as Bois moves into position atop him and clubs some more. Mohammedi pushes off to get space and then pokes his jab and right into Bois' face before moving again, making use of his much quicker feet and superior balance and fluidity. Big 1-2 by Bois, mostly blocked, all sound and fury.

Mohammedi had Bois looking silly at times in the fifth, but if the judges are listening to the ticket-holders - and/or favor raw aggression - this approach could backfire on the challenger.

 

Round 6

Mohammedi is jabbing and grabbing. He relents after referee Smail Alitouche creeps in closer to make his presence known without actually giving a warning. Mohammedi switches to outside boxing, still negative. Jab, duck, roll, up with another jab, duck and roll the other way. Bois can't get near him. Right to the body by Bois, caught on the arm and parlayed into a clinch by Mohammedi. Bois pushes down on his back as Mohammedi shoulders him into the ropes. Alitouche orders a break. Mohammedi is landing long light combos on the backfoot now, 1-2-1-2 in between Bois' forearms. Big swatting hook by Bois, landing on the crown. Headbutt as they come together with Mohammedi reaching to hold. Both are pawing at their eyes. Bois' corner man is on the apron yelling angrily.

Oh damn. Slow motion replay shows that might have been intentional by Mohammedi. He bucked up and in during the clinch, and Bois took the worst of the butt. :think

 

The camera angle when it happened live wasn't ideal, but there was a quick butt in between them punching at each other when they very briefly clinched. I think Bois' back was to the camera obscuring Mohammedi when it happened.

 

Round 7

Mohammedi is feeling it now, landing jabs and right hands from just outside but not moving his legs anymore, just dropping into a deep bow when Bois throws back and then coming up swinging every time. Left upper-hooks by Mohammedi sprinkled in. Bois comes in with his swatting left hook and Mohammedi leans out of its way and counters with light straight combos until they are pressed together. Mohammedi is slapping at Bois while propped against him. Bois tries muscling him off and clubbing with a right but Mohammedi is wedged in tight on him.

The crowd is booing, although it's hard to say whether it's because Mohammedi is making such a butterface of this or because they know their boy (see what I did there?) is quite possibly about to lose...

 

It's a little dirty and undeniably negative, but I actually don't mind Mohammedi's performance here. His style is far more enjoyable to watch than a Sergio Mora or Richar Abril. :conf

 

Round 8

Mohammedi is flurrying in and shoving Bois as they clasp together. Alitouche has seen enough after over a minute of this and warns Mohammedi. They begin to trade in the pocket and BOIS IS ROCKED BY A SERIES OF LEFT AND RIGHT HOOKS AS MOHAMMEDI GOES FOR BROKE, WHIPPING THEM UP FROM DOWN BY HIS KNEES! HEAD SNAPPING UPPERCUT FROM THE BASEMENT BY MOHAMMEDI! THEY CLINCH AND BREAK! NOW BOIS GIVES MOHAMMEDI HIS BEST SHOTS, PLOWING IN WITH OVERHANDS AND HOOKS. Another clinch. Time out, checking tape on Bois' glove or something. Replacing gum shield? I can't really tell what is going on, the camera work is horrible. Twenty seconds left on the round clock. Mohammedi is waiting in a neutral corner. Time in. Mohammedi executes a VERY slick move, dropping down diagonally back and to his left and getting his skull to pass just millimeters under Bois' lead hook, and then flurrying the body from the squatted position.
