OK, they apparently squashed the beef for now, or agreed in principle to have a rematch, or something, because Patrick just extended a handshake to Nadjib and people around them began clapping.

    Round 1

Chaouche is boxing tall behind the jab, circling at an easy pace around the stocky and spare-tire carrying Lecrosnier. Chaouche is dropping the jab on Lecrosnier's head from outside and not having to worry about his receipt. Lecrosnier's stubby little arms shoot out but fall woefully shy of target. Lecrosnier does, creditably, try a full-body dive feint, committing to it and ramming his head forward before snapping it back, but Chaouche doesn't fall for it, and just keeps casually moving and jabbing.

    10-9 Chaouche

    Round 2

Chaouche is circling, facing up to Lecrosnier, arms held out vertically, picking his spots with jabs. Lecrosnier bowls in a few gutterballs to the body and is warned to keep them above the belt. Chaouche is throwing long jabs over Lecrosnier's guard. Lecrosnier is flinching back and trying to move his head to slip the jabs. Wild overhands by Lecrosnier moving in, not reaching the head of Chaouche but forcing him to retreat.

    10-9 Chaouche

    20-18 Chaouche

    Round 3

Chaouche is making full revolutions around Lecrosnier without seeing an incoming punch. Jabs at every measured snap-turn by Chaouche. Lecrosnier explodes in spurts a couple of times per minute, rushing in low with uppercuts to the body. Chaouche catches them on the elbows and circles with his jab paddling gently and steadily into Lecrosnier's brow.

    10-9 Chaouche

    30-27 Chaouche

Why are they televising this?

It's a mismatch, it's a boring styles clash, and it's over and not even live.

Apparently this is a rematch. They met in June on the undercard of a European featherweight title bout and Chaouche took a wide UD, all three judges giving Lecrosnier one round of six. (one judge also had an even round)

Going by this, I can't imagine it was close or compelling enough to even warrant having them do it again. :conf (let alone broadcast it, to really bring down the mood after that lively main event)

    Round 4

Chaouche is jabbing and sidestepping. Lecrosnier is walking forward, getting rocked on his heels as he catches jabs on his wrist, and firing mistimed body shots. :dead

    10-9 Chaouche

    40-36 Chaouche

    Round 5

Chaouche is jabbing Lecrosnier in the eyes and then hopping backward. Double left hook on the outside by Chaouche. Lecrosnier tanks in, earmuffs on. Lecrosnier switches to what almost looks to be a Philly shell, and it looks hysterically funny on him. It also gets him jabbed sharply in the face. Chaouche lands a jab backing up and drops in an overhand right between the eyes for good measure. Lecrosnier walks forward, lunging with up-jabs and coming nowhere close, missing by feet as Chaouche calmly and without any urgency moves outside and in a wide arc around him. Chaouche dances to his left and flicks jabs into Lecrosnier's nose. Lunging jab by Lecrosnier, short - Chaouche counters past it. A few glancing body hooks are all Lecrosnier is getting through.

    10-9 Chaouche

    50-45 Chaouche

    Round 6

Chaouche is jabbing and folding his arms up against his face, letting Lecrosnier overreach and high-five him with his jab and inclined straight right. Lecrosnier covers up and bends forward, absorbing hooks and short chops. Chaouche lands a jab on the face and then ducks to fire a straight right to the body, landing flush and setting the jiggly flesh a-quiver. Chaouche is dancing around popping jabs as Lecrosnier

    10-9 Chaouche

    60-54 Chaouche

Laid - now 13-0 (5) - is the same age as Mohammedi, and turned pro only a year after him, but has a third of the experience and IMO that will show if and when they square off for Mohammedi's new belt...unless Chaouche makes leaps and bounds of improvement in a hurry. (in saying that, he clearly already knew what a scrub Lecrosnier is from last time and probably didn't get "up" for this like he might for an opportunity to challenge Mohammedi or Bois...)
