Jake Shields (born January 9, 1979) is an [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States"]American[/ame] [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed_martial_arts"]mixed martial artist[/ame] who is currently fighting in the middleweight division of the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultimate_Fighting_Championship"]UFC[/ame]. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this brah but... This content is protected Lynchburg
:mj He said a few months back he was done at WW... he looks awful at WW anyway so I was glad. I think he is just trying to raise his profile again. Most UFC fans didn't have a clue who he was. He came in with all the hype and looked **** :verysad He is not a WW IMO. Lynchburg
Cote isnt top ten in any division. Very strange when a fighter decides to drop divisions so late in career .. Usually it goes the other way . Well in boxing it usually does
He shouldn't drop to WW, because Maldonado offered to fight him at MW, and who wouldn't want to see that?
Yeah, but the Cote fight is now out of the question. Cote will be fighting Bobby Voelker at UFC 158. Strikeforce fans should remember Voelker for his trilogy against Roger Bowling.
**** it, Maldonado still needs to cut to 185. He can still have fun but will actually have a chance of picking up a W. Saying that, he will probably lose cardio, which is one of his main strengths. And 185 is a pretty busy division. But still, he needs to be a Pat Barry-type fighter and win a fight now and then. Fun punchbag or not Zuffa are unlikely to keep him around. Saying that now famed cabbage Beltran has picked up a win and saved his ass a fight with Maldonado would surely be a FOTY candidate.
Seems Joey heard me :happy http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/12/21/3792046/ufc-joey-beltran-wants-to-fight-on-ufc-157 Not sure how Maldonado has healed up to this poor but that fight would guarantee bedlam.
The first thing I said after Beltran's fight with Pokrajac was that I'd like to see him fight Maldonado. Let's face it, neither guy is ever going to hold the strap, and nobody wants to see them outclassed by superior wrestlers, game planners, or just superior overall mixed martial artists. You want to see these two matched up with fellow blood and guts brawlers. It's a perfect fight to make. Don't throw it on a PPV, or on any undercard, either. Put it on the main card of a Fox show.
