Also if butchering a foreign language is racist, then Japan owes us billions in reparations for all that Engrish.

I honestly don't have any idea wtf this even is but I'm pretty sure it ranks among the most racistic things said on here yet.

...and that ain't slender! (no I'm not calling you fat, just a sauer kraut)

Which do you take issue with? First off, just because you conflate them doesn't mean that being "against" one particular nationality equates to racism, because race =/= nationality; furthermore simply making fun of something doesn't mean you have to be "against it".

There was no centralized nationalist identity until the Prussians consolidated power among their nearest cultural & geographic neighbors (barring Austria, because they were beefing) in the last few decades of the 19th century. "German" was only a way that people had identified for a single generation when that brand of selfhood was sundered into East & West at the conclusion of WWII; as of 1945, anyone over the age of 74 had in fact not been a "German" when they were born. It has now been 28 years since reunification, meaning that merely 102 years of non-contiguous German national identity has existed in the world...scantly over a century. The automobile has existed for over three decades longer. Even rubber sneakers have two dozen years' worth of seniority on "being German".

My national identity stretches downstream an unbroken 242 years...so please do not invoke my proud Anglo-American tradition (which boasts a history 2.37x larger than does that of "Germany") in any supercilious tones, Herr Ghul! :nonono

If you take issue with any perceived cyber-bullying tugging at the delicate threads of the collective ethnic, linguistic and/or cultural fabric of "Germanic peoples" (which actually includes Brits and thereby many Americans, technically), a very wide umbrella indeed - well, you're going to have to get all the way in the back of the line, because such peoples (that proudly thump on their chest and proclaim "ich bin ein Berliner" - or any other kind of jelly donut) are still less than a century removed from a pretty big hoppla ein gänseblümchen, no? You don't get to stand before the identity politics tribunal of public opinion in the plaintiff role as "put upon volk" for at least another few generations, ja?

While they can have more precise definitions that do not correlate, in a broad sense they ("castle" & "fort") are interchangeable terms.
