Is this a dangerous fight for Floyd ,despite Floyd being the much better fighter ?In a similar situation as Norton v Shavers perhaps? Or do the skill s of Patterson win through here?
Patterson’s camp would have avoided weaver at all costs I still like Floyd to win by late knockout but weaver has him on the floor multiple times
I agree ,as I stated in my post He's the more skilful of the two. But Weaver could bang hard, Floyd s got to be up against it here.
Id like to think Floyd could do it ,weavers Chin wasn't concrete either .There'd certainly be a few kds .
Weaver never was a top puncher he only could punch thats all bonavena did hit harder than weaver.patterson would outpoint him easily
Good match I see Weaver hurting Patterson but Patterson could box well and certainly well enough to avoid Weavers big power......Weaver is not aggressive enough to catch Patterson IMO
Patterson is one of my all time favorites but there are some misconceptions about him. He is often referred to as a an excellent boxer. I think he was an OK boxer. What made Patterson was his ability to punch hard and fast. If you had to single out his greatest asset, it would be his punching power. Patterson had one leg that was shorter than the other and as a result, he was not a great mover. Patterson was always in top shape and was always game. In any case, Floyd figures to stop Weaver by just being better at landing hard shots.
Roy Jones is too. Has nothing to do how they fare vs vs heavy guys. Patterson did not fight the bunch of fighters Weaver fought.

Mike Weaver was a notorious slow starter and rallied to beat Coetzee and Tate. Weaver tried the same against Larry Holmes but Holmes came out on top. Against Patterson unlike against Holmes Weaver this time prevails. Weaver ko late.
Weaver takes him. Floyd is ahead and begins to try to pour it on and that’s his mistake. Weaver was game and could counter and trade. At some point Weaver lands a big right and Floyd goes down. And gets up but never fully recovers. Goes down again and again and it’s over.
