roy does his thing for a while possibly knocking him down ala jones malinga. but by round 7 Patterson leaps and boom goes the dynamite. patterson ko
jones speeds his way to a decision. floyd stops coming forward after he keeps getting caught early imo. with a light heavy jones and day before weigh-ins, there would be little size difference between them if any. patterson an inch taller, jones with a 3 inch reach advantage.
Roy would meet someone who is also a physical marvel. Not as much so, but still. I think Patterson can catch up to him and he'll win a fire fight if able to force one. Patterson TKO8.
Floyd was even able to land on a near peak Ali, and could be a deadly body puncher, as London and Green found out a dozen years apart. Roy's usual blinding edge in hand speed would not be enjoyed here. He could manage a flash knockdown on Patterson, but Floyd was far more resilient than Jones. Combine one punch power with a chin susceptible to that kind of force, and Patterson eventually sparks him out with a shot from either hand.
What heavy did RJones ever knock out? If Patterson can be competitive with Ali speed-wise, then Roy is in trouble. Patterson by sudden K.O. in the 7th round. (Jones' leg does the Ingo twitch)
Floyd knocks him out stiff as a plank with a left hook he didn't see coming. Patterson would have beheaded Roy.
If Jones was offered this fight, he would laugh and walk away, opting to face Tommy Jackson. I wouldn't blame him.
