Gotta go with Michael here. Better resume at the weight and even at 175 Floyd was prone to being knocked down. Figure the Spinks Jinx gets through a time or two to produce a couple of 10-8 rounds on the way to a 15-round competitive but unanimous decision.

Floyd’s resume at light heavy includes a couple of nice wins over Yvon Durelle but also a loss to Joey Maxim. Spinks beat Yaqui Lopez, Marvin Johnson, Qawi, etc.

About equal boxers but patterson is the bigger puncher by a country Mile, spinks was great defending against left hooks but patterson's hook is simply too much for spinks to deal with.

Patterson by k.o. late rounds but would look like the poor man's Ali vs Frazier while it lasted

You must surely have mixed the thread up with heavyweight? Spinks was an enormous puncher at 175 and it would not be possible to be a bigger puncher by a mile at that weight. He had genuine one punch power and is easily one of the top 175 punchers in history.

I'll take Spinks at 175 as he was totally natural at the weight and fought thru his peak there. Patterson was enormously talented there but moved up to heavyweight before he peaked as a fighter i reckon. He'd still be damn tough.

Spinks at 175 Patterson above. Spinks 1-2 was more polished than Patterson could handle, his chin was shaky and his knees weak, and that's not a good Combination whilst in with Spinks at 175. On top of that Patterson was a little at 175 I think he was 19/20. All of these facts weigh in Spinks' favour and lead to a mid round KO

if a magic genie gave me 3 wishes spinks vs patterson would be a fight i would wish for. and just to troll everyone on here i would wish that only i could see it and then i would report back the results to everyone.

anyway id just marginally favor spinks at lhw. but with no real conviction.

even at heavy id say that patterson should weigh 190ish vs spinks. if he was say 182 vs a 200+lb spinks i think he'd be giving up too much weight.

Spinks was the John Travolta of light heavyweights. Despite Patterson's talent, Michael would be too much for Floyd. Spinks kayoes Patterson in 9 rounds.

    I like Floyd here. Decision.

Real quick hands and I think he has the footspeed to close the gap and land. Holds those hands up high. And I think Michael gives the guy far too much respect--he did that in his fights---and drops a decision in what should have been a winnable fight.

I can't think of a better fight than this one. I would lean towards Floyd Patterson. He was too quick. Spinks was funky though. Funky like a corpse.
