Paulie is a tough guy, but I think he's done as a fighter. He has no confidence in that right hand and is pretty much a completely one handed fighter. I don't believe he can be competitive against good fighters and should probably think about retiring. What do you guys think? Does Paulie have what it takes to fight again at a championship level, or should he hang em up while he still has his health?
There's nothing wrong with his hand, he said so himself. He fought as though there was though, or at least that's what he stated after being schooled by Hatton.
How can you be a professional fighter when you've had 4 surgeries on your hand? Hopefully the guy can be a trainer, manager, promoter or something. He didn't graduate high school right?
Maybe he should hang'em up because he rarely threw that right hand against hatton. I ain't taking the **** here but maybe see a sports physcologists and try and get over the fear of throwing his right hand if he still wants to be a fighter.
He stopped using the right after he realised he couldn't use it to effect and was out of his depth. I like Paulie, but he lost big and the hand was convenient. Let's be honest, would it have stopped Hatton coming forward?
Yea he just does not have the power to make other boxers respect his punches and that will hurt him in the long run he does however have a future in commentary as he is very flamboyant and talkative. If he decides to stay it will most likely be as a gatekeeper, however one interesting fight would be Paulie vs Witter in sort of a crossroads affair.
That witter v paulie would be an interesting fight more for the build up really because they are two gobshites. :good
People exagerate things a lot.He can still fight the best at 140 and maybe win.It's not like he lost to a bum....he lost to the champ at 140. He can fight the contenders at 140 and give anyone a hard day.Anyway he said so himself that he won't be fighting past 32,he is 28 so expect to see him a few more years.
Thats true, but he needs to start throwing that right hand because its his speed and combinations what win him the fights. Yes he still as his career and not everybody at 140 is like hatton walking through shots just to start bullying him.
Well, Paulie said himself that he's comtemplating retiring. So I don't think it's an exageration to say that he's done. He didn't lose to a bum, but he really hasn't beaten anyone either. I can't see Paulie beating any of the top fighters at 140.
Malignaggi is a tough guy no doubt, but if he did throw the right hand and it broke (again) the hand would go numb within one or two rounds, this would make throwing the right hand possible again. I realise there could be lasting damage but as some people have already said his career is already hanging by a thread as it is. And I for one think with a functioning right hand he could take almost anyone at 140 (he gave Cotto a hell of a run).
