Appleby is a great prospect while Simpson is just a good British fighter.

It would be an upset in terms of levels they are expectd to achieve.

I like Simpson but he is not going any further while Appleby has world title aspirations and a defeat against Simpson would seriously harm his route.

Simpson is often underrated as a fighter.

I see what you mean about Appleby though - a loss could be perceived as a backwards step but perhaps that is partly due to expectations being too high too soon.

A defeat to Simpson wouldn't necessarily seriously harm his career - depends on the manner of the loss.

The manner of the loss is the problem. Simpson has the potential to put a real dent in Appleby's hype train. It is a tough fight and one both should be commended for taking.

Agree if Appleby were to lose badly it would dent his confidence but if he was always in the fight or it was a close decision he could come out of it with a lot of credit even if he were to lose.

Appleby's camp clearly have a lot of confidence in him by pushing for this fight. :good

I actually think Simpsons win over Morris was one of the best domestic performances of 2007! He was fantastic.

Im gonna go against the tide and pick Appleby for this one. Each time I've seen the youngster I 've been more and more impressed and although I rate Simpson as a good domestic fighter I reckon Appleby will be even more improved by the time it happens and pull it off.

JOhn has been told he doesnt have to fight appleby till july due to an injury to his hand so hes hoping to fight for the european title before he defneds against appleby so appleby could end up fighting for the british and euro title in only his 11th fight.

I think john will have too much experience for appleby and will win comfortably on points.

Simpson is very underated. That is why due to the hype of Appleby (he is special no doubt) I think it will be seen as an upset for Appleby to lose, the same way if Khan lost any of his recent fights they would have been upsets.

John however can win this and keep plugging away for more opportunities.

The comparison about Appleby and Khan is an interesting one - not least because the former is pushing to challenge for the British Title and the latter has just withdrawn his interest.

Difference is Appleby looks like he wants to fiht guys who will test him while Khan just wants to wag his **** out Warrens office and be told how great he is.

I fancy Appleby to beat Simpson in a gruelling war .
It would be great if Simpson could capture the European title before the bout , he's good enough to do it and deserves it(with some of the luck he's had in fights) and it would add to what is already an intruiging match up between a solid British champion and a young , very promising prospect .

Appleby is over-rated big time, i mean he's looked good against journey men but what does that prove, the guy he's fighting tomorrow is yet another one but we have gilmore in the paper saying how hard a fight its gonna be think his record is 9 wins 10 defeats or something, simpson is far to experienced and talented for Appleby in the next year, after that who know's, but you also have Jason hastie (who beat appleby as a amature) to take into account

Another explosive win for Appleby. Thought the commentators were a bit hard on him.
