How good is Scottish Prospect Paul Appleby and far can he go? Going to see him live for the 1st time next month when he fights for the celtic title against dai davies on the undercard of Anderson-McIntyre. Started to get excited as he just keeps getting better every time i seen him his finish against Durgahed was pretty special considering this guy had only been stopped once before. would like to see him step up in class early next year. heres a few clips of paul in action whats everyones thoughts?

I just posted about Appleby in the Anderson v McIntyre thread - I think he has got world class potential.

What do you think of a possible match up between him and our fave scottish fighter John Simpson as thats what Appleby's camp are said to be aiming for?

Would be an interesting fight but i think Johns experience would see him through it as you seen in that last fight Appleby still leaves himself open to shots and i think it would just be too soon for Appleby but give him a few more fights, iron out some of his flaws and i think would be a very close fight but by that time John should have moved on to bigger fights,

john is only making 1 more defence of his Lonsdale belt then going for the european its not likely he will vacate it unless its going to get in the way of a shot at the european with a mandatory defence as what happened with the morris fight. He was in line for a shot at the european and had even said to morris's camop that even if John won the european he would put that and the british on the line when he made his mandatory deence against him if they just put it back but they werent prepared to wait.

Appleby looks pretty decent but we will have to wait and see with im as there are a few other lads milling around the division.

Paul Appleby is a very good prospect indeed. I have always rated him highly since he was a yongster. He has the potential, if properly managed, to go all the way. Very good body puncher.

Here is a pic of him as an amateur from 2003, A young Fundo Mhura is passing him water.

There is a lot of good things being said about young Appleby however I've been at his last couple of fights (Nagy and Dennis) and would say the hype at thsi stage certainly is a bit OTT. Fair enough no ones saying he's the finished article or that and hes definitely got time on his side so we shall in the not too distant future I suppose. But as stated previously he does leave himself pretty open and I actually got the impression that he was a bit chinny.

Think if he was to go in with Simpson at this stage Simpson would put him away fairly quickly especially with his new found power!! Maybe in another year or so this could be a cracking wee bout!!

He stopped Nagy and won every round against Dennis. If he does not think he is in trouble he puts everything into offence and somewhat neglects his defense. He is a bit open largely because he does not care about being hit. However this is a bad habit and he will need to be tighter if he is to progress. Hoever he is still young and as he moves up the ladder he will I am sure he will be less cavalier. It would be too early for Simpson but I think Paul has te skill and agression to go very far indeed.

In his last bout he demolished a very tough Riaz Durgahed.
